Oooops! perhaps I have the wrong thread. Can anyone explain what is meant by. ' I'm feeling old' Perhaps we might start a Gardeners Corner Dictionary of Terms.

No disrespects but, OK I'm eighty and yes sometimes I perhaps feel a bit tired etc but, I still can't understand why we so often use languages that say one thing and perhaps mean another.

I am sure my better educated friends here on GC can assist.

Depends on what your touching! :heehee:

Although Aloha is used to say hello and goodbye it is not the original meaning of the word.

To quote: 'The real meaning of Aloha in Hawaiian is that of Love, Peace, and Compassion. It’s the guidelines of how to live – a life of Aloha is one when the heart is so full it is overflowing with the ability to influence others around you with your spirit.'

I learnt that when living on the islands to write my guide book of them (now out of print). :blue thumb:

Waimea Canyon, on the island of Kauai (the oldest of the inhabited Hawaiian islands).

              Good day
I did finish all of my wage earning yesterday and my granddaughter left on the train so I only have my own activities to take care of. Both chores and the fun stuff.
I have a nice cuppa next to me and once I've finished it and reading the news, I'll be tackling some potting up. It is still months before the ground will thaw and the spring will arrive but my seedlings are starting to pop up in some of the soil blocks. I picked up a new sheet of thick felt yesterday to refresh some of the capillary watering set up in the cellar so will lay that on the heat mats this morning and then place anything potted up on the new felt. Lots of fun :)

When spring comes, I'll be ready to jump into action with, hopefully, loads of seed grown plants to fill the yard.

              Cheers and play safe!

                      Good day
It is still pitch here but I do know that it is very cold as today is everything day. That's what I call the bi weekly pick up rubbish, recycle and bulk items. And I had to drag all of the items through the snow to the end of the driveway, experience the cold and be reminded that it is still only February, the middle of winter.

I'm planning to sew one of the tops I had already cut out because I have never sewn up this particular pattern and I want to try it first before deciding which fabric to use with each of my patterns.
This is the toaster 2 which I have not tried/worn before
                      [IMG]
and this is the toaster 1 that I have made however I adjust the body to be 3" longer before adding the banding at the bottom. I also made a cardigan to go over it in the same fabric so as to have a twin set (in red) for Christmas.
upload_2020-2-7_7-5-50.jpeg There is a reason for the name as I have found that the toaster 1 which I have made twice now, is indeed very warm and toasty. A must for winter here! I'm thinking the toaster 2 will also be warm too.:fingers crossed:

Since electricity is expensive during the day today, I won't be vacuuming or baking and it should be a great time to refill the trays with soil blocks made from potting soil. I emptied enough trays by potting up, to give me enough room to make about 100 new blocks. No, I didn't get 100 plants potted up. There were some failed-to-germinate blocks that went back in the bucket to be reused.:)

The sun is supposed to make a showing later and that is when I'll be out shoveling the 4 or so inches of snow that fell last night. Shoveling in the sunshine is always a relaxing way to get some exercise.

Take care all and play safe please! :)

I also save my vacuuming and tumble drying ( occasionally) and baking for our cheap rate time too!
:dbgrtmb:. We chose 2-4pm along with the standard time that we can't control.

Those tops look lovely and snuggly. Please post pics when completed.:dbgrtmb:

Just having a coffee break with my Dad, housework ,laundry all done. Tree surgeon has been to look at the poorly Beech trees in his front garden. Report being sent to council as they all have a TPO on them. They will email me with what will be needed.

Will have an afternoon in his garden...gentle pottering is all I can do really as the vacuuming has taken it's toll on my back. Then I will do the ironing before hubs comes to pick me up later.

@Upsydaisy it is a cotton/poly mix with the faux quilting. Fairly thick so really finishes nicely with the serger and twin needles.

That's one of the guest beds, you'd really like Mimi then -
