Yes, well his girlfriend was to join him in February....have a feeling she's said something to him as well as we've just had a grumpy email from him( mind you it is past midnight) saying he's cutting it short and coming home next Friday ( why he's waiting that long heaven knows) but he's already been to China, so perhaps they are advised to wait and see ?:dunno: At least we've heard from him:yes:

Churned the strawberry ice cream and just finished making a cookies and cream dessert for Sunday's lunch- nearly whole fam damily coming. I make it early so the cream has time to really penetrate the cookies. Oink, oink..

Had Daughter in law over for a cup of coffee and to visit with her niece/my granddaughter because DIL has to work on Sunday and won't be able to see her then.

Did a bit of shopping as the ingredients for Sunday's main dish were on offer today. Great timing :)

Soon my granddaughter will be heading out the door with me to visit the pub for an hour.

All in all, a very pleasant day so far

Went to see Keith, he's got a order for some valentines cards to make. He's printed them all out, I've put some of the toppers on and now I've got a lot of cutting out to do for the decupage to put on top.

Today I've set up an on line shop for a craft business that my wife dabbles with. I spent far too long on Wordpress and totally confused myself. I decided that for the sake of my sanity I'd take the higher charges for Shopify and create a shop within my technical capabilities. My head is now mashed and I think a glass of red is called for tonight.

Picked up some work for a well known Network manufacturer and I’m having fun with a new AX router of theirs. while I like my gardening I’m very much into some of the tech available and love testing them out including the security side.
at least it’s a job in the warm!

Hubby's into tech things, a few months ago he bought the eco dot and then 3 of the ecos. Now he's replaced most of the light bulbs with smart bulbs. Some things are on smart plugs and the Christmas lights because they were too difficult to get down and switch them off.

I've just been reading through this thread and thought I'd add my two pennarth.

FC. So sorry to learn about the pooch. Then the good news. He's on the mend. I often reckon that vets are better than some doctors. At least they diagnose. Mind you. I'd be put off, having my temperature taken by a vet. Please keep us upto date with doggys progress.

Amandii mentioned the PDSA. I can't sing their praises loud enough. Over the years, we had had dogs from a rescue farm. FOAL Farm. Biggin Hill. Two beautes being german shephards. We registered them with a vet of long standing, who cared for the Met Police dogs. In time the costs went up. We, Val & I had to go to the PDSA, as our incomes were small. The PDSA help pet owners who are on housing benefits etc to treat their pets. We were always so thankful, and our appreciation was expressed in our donations. The PDSA treated our last dog. A Border Collie Bitch. We learned that the PDSA seldom will put a pet down. So when Lady's time came, we had to get back to our original vets. In the past, they had been there for the demise of Tina & Ash, the GS.

It is something very special. The bond that develops between animal and man. Even now, friends say to me. Mike, why don't you get a dog. No thanks. I have so many happy memories with our pets and so many upsets, when it's come to. Time to say goodbye.

Logan. Great pets you have. You must be very proud of them.

Just off to my Dad's, housework, laundry and gardening.....and hopefully trying to establish a colour coded system for all his 100's of cds.... I go armed with coloured stickers!! He gets muddled trying to find his favourites.

Not looking forward to the physical work much as I'm still in agony with this sciatica and bad back....but sadly these jobs need doing, and I don't get any offers of help from my other siblings.

On the plus side our youngest flies home today. He was on a 7wk holiday , China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Sadly didn't make it to Thailand and has cut it short by a week and a half. Better to be safe than sorry. It's been very worrying though as he is mixing with a lot of other travellers.

Have installed my existing mobile sim into a mifi hub - which will stay put in the bungalow - to keep the smart equipment connected. Although the sim has 5000 mins and unlimited texts - these will not be used - it has a massive 240 gig monthly data allowance - hence it's in the mifi hub. It's running 2 x fire tv's; 3 smart plugs; 3 echo dots and this raspberry pi computer. Plenty fast enough. We've never used all of the 240 gig allowance despite some very heavy usage.

Also, just ordered a phone sim from the same supplier - to use in my handset. Unlimited texts, 2 gig data and 1000 mins for 6 quid a month. That's not bad IMHO.

So all in - 28 quid a month - all calls/data included. I wonder how BT have the gaul to charge 20 quid just to have one of their lines connected to your house.

Thanks @Mike Allen - he is doing reasonably well, but will never be fully healthy again as he has heart failure and heart murmur. We won't qualify for PDSA help as we work, so we are just going to have to get on with it, and pay the £150 or thereabouts each month for his medication.

Whether you work or not, does not bother the PDSA as they're about animals and treatment if needed. You can be out of work, you can be in work, you can be a Millionaire, they're not bothered as it's all about the animal that's sick:dunno: They rely on donations, money from Wills, and the PDSA Lottery for income, it's not about People qualifying to be able to take their animals for treatment as everyone "qualifies" if their pet is sick and you can donate whatever amount you can, if you can't that's okay too..........it's not called the Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals for nothing:love30:

Echo dots are great, I have them and my hue lights tied in with an Arlo security camera system. Arlo can be a tad temperamental till you get use to them but unlike other well known camera systems they use their own base station which uses PMF so they can’t be shut off. ive a debug running at the moment as the logs are showing missing segments and Monday I should be able to send this info for inspection. Once that’s done I can reset the router and start fresh again.
