Not wishing to cause any ill feeling etc but.

Yes. The PDSA is an animal/vetinary charity. There used to also be a similar charity known as the Blue Cross Kennels. Top of the list is the care and welfare of the animal. I have never heard of either charity, refusing to treat a sick animal.

We used to take our dogs to a vets that treated the police dogs. Treatment, top class. However it all came at a cost. When it was realised such costs were a bit to much for us, it was kindly suggested we might try the PDSA.

I was aware of this charity, as having volunteered my time to home vet prospective animal adopters, I naturally gained as much info as possible, so as to assist the adopter.

Eventually we took our dog, Lady, a Border Collie to the nearest PDSA. It was in Abbey Wood. Close to the clinic is also a travellers site ( gypsy site). One visit and in walks.....''MONEY'. This lady, everything about her indicated wealth. Fox skin around her neck etc. She had three pekes. Receptionist when through the questions relating to the woman's wealth. No benefits etc. The woman got quite stroppy when the receptionist mentioned that, the vet would check the dogs over but, as the practice was a charity, madam might well be billed for any prescribed medicines etc. The name of the nearest non-PDSA vets practice was provided. Madam and her doggy family exited.

So whilst I go along with your post, my friend. I do think it best for any pet owner to, yes get treatment for your pet ASAP, but at the same time, to expect to have to cough up for it.

The internet provides an insight for the PDSA. Quite a few questions to answer. Even though I no longer have a pet, daughter Amanda uses the service. I still donate.

If I may also add. OK like so many aspects of life today. Insurance insurances. Yes all good, until you make a claim. Please keep your wits about you.

We've never had any problems with petplan insurance for our dogs. Have to be careful which one you go for. Petplan is a life insurance policy, when we claim for something they would still be covered in the future. There's a limit to how much we can claim in a year, but still covered in the next year. :)

Have you checked on their website and did the questionnaire?
You might be qualified for low cost treatment. :)

Not yet - I must admit, I was put off by the 'eligibility' bit, and instantly assumed we wouldn't be. To be fair, it is early days and the plan is to get him stable with the current vet (who has been first class)

That's great news, perhaps it's best to stay with the same vet now.:)

That is a consideration too, not least as they are literally five minutes from the house, but also that they have been so honest and up front with us from the start. They are also considerably cheaper than the next nearest vet (who gets shockingly bad reviews, oddly enough)

Not that I really want to defend BT  :heehee: but their charges are very negotiable.

We have two separate landlines, one with unlimited free calls and the other with unlimited free calls evenings and weekends plus unlimited internet for less than a total of £28 per month. I must admit that it took half an hour of tough negotiating to get it down to that but it can be done. :blue thumb:

Yesterday made the Christmas cake, it's got 1kg of mixed dried fruit and 2lb of glace cherries.
20200210_065734.jpg This morning I made the jam tarts.

I'm not looking @Logan as I refuse to think about Christmas!!!:nonofinger::heehee:

Went to the cinema this morning to see Dr Doolittle 2. Pure escapism from the woes of the world....bliss! Had to wait and watch baby son's name scroll up the credits:lunapic 130165696578242 5:
                            Proud mummy moment;)

Went out this afternoon and bought loads of bulbs ( hadn't planned that!!! ) Also bought all the seeds for my planned wildlife project at my Dad's too.

Back at home late afternoon I had to search for some of our bird feeders and retrieved them from up the lane!!
Checked on and sorted out some pots that had blown over then gave hubs a hand at sorting out the cover on the caravan, it's badly torn so when this strong wind subsides hubs will either do a 'make do and mend ' job or begrudgingly but a new one.

                            Enjoy your evening everyone.:)

Yum @Logan I'm still eating my way through my last batch of Christmas cake. Soo good!

I can't really figure out what I did today other than a little shoveling. Certainly don't feel I accomplished anything!

Oh, yes, forgot that I re-grommetted some panels for a client. I'd made the drapes for her 10 years ago and somehow during moves, she pulled some out. I'll not charge her anything as she's a nice lady.
