Very mild. Hovering just below freezing but by Friday we've been promised 0f. Yes, monkeys running around holding their naughty bits!

But the good part is that at those temperatures, it doesn't snow.

Tonight the forecast is cold, damp and I don't care because I will be under my layers reading a good mystery

Very frosty but the sun is coming up and the wind has dropped - for now. Very high winds forecast for Saturday and Sunday.

They are not to be as bad as they were last weekend, so hopefully you won't end up with any of your massive trees trying to escape your garden this time round. Silly question, but have you got a battery radio in case the power goes out again?

Yes, it's in the kitchen and plugged in all the time. I listen to it a lot. When our power went I thought "I'll listen to the radio" - nada!!! I'll need to check out the batteries. Can't think what might be wrong as they're only 15 years old :heehee:

Ah, that might be it - we generally always keep a wee stock of batteries in. Back when we lived in the countryside, it was also calor gas heaters on standby too (paraffin before that, but they went out of fashion because of the smell, which I just happen to quite like :th scifD36: :rolleyespink:)

Gorgeous start to what looks like being a fab day outside.

@Fat Controller we still have our Calor heater for if and when an emergency arises, I'm not bother by its fragrance either:heehee:. Are we strange? :dunno:.......no don't answer that.;)

My parents had paraffin heaters because my mom thought that the night storage heaters were too expensive and they switched on at the wrong time. I didn't like the smell of the paraffin at all.

I thought you'd have a wind up one Shiney. :heehee:

Sunshine and snow showers again today. That's fine, but I wish the blasted wind would disappear, it's been with us for weeks! The temperature started out at around 5C/41F early on but it's now down to 2C/36F with a colder than usual night ahead.

Small bout of wind and heavy rain due here overnight, almost as a bit of a taster as to what is to come at the weekend - don't you just love this time of year? :rolleyespink:

We do have batteries in stock but I didn't bother to check if they're the right ones :noidea:. We have a gas cooker in the kitchen so we can keep that room warm. We also used to have a gas light on the wall but Mrs Shiney wanted it taken away when we refitted the kitchen.
