I had to wait until late afternoon, due to the heavy rain, until I could get into the Green House to pot up 6 Japanese Anemones and 8 Munstead Lavender. I also did a quick check on all the Sarracenia and other carnivorous plants. It's getting a "little" crowded in the Green House with lots of new Hardy Perennials waiting to go outside, the collection of Cactus and the collection of carnivorous plants, so I might put some of the Alliums, Rudbeckia, Ferns, and Phlox outside on the patio.......another "tomorrow" job:heehee::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

After household chores at my Dad's this morning I spent the afternoon digging over his wildlife patch, I am planning on doing this several times over during the next month or so before leaving any weeds left ( dreaded GE) to grow on before zapping them with the spot killer kindly suggested by @JWK .

Have to say it was back breaking work and not the best gardening task for my weak back! To make matters worse my Dad had failed to tell me that he had buried one of his huge Koi Carp there just before Christmas .....along with a Pigeon he had found dead in his garden!!!!?:yikes::eeew:. Not a nice discovery!!

Then went round and gathered up twigs and small branches that Storm Denis had brought down.

Finally I raised the canopy of tree/ shrubby thingamy ( :noidea: ) to allow a bit more light to filter through onto his wildlife patch.....well :fingers crossed: that's what it will be.:heehee:

Now that I've sat down I have stiffen up like I have Rigor Mortise!!!!!:roflol:

Oh @Upsydaisy , you made me laugh! I pictured you discovering the cadavers and experiencing a giant jolt :thud:....

Then you talk about feeling like rigor mortis has set in and got another giggle. At least you aren't "sleepin wid dah fishes" :heehee:

I only did some seed sorting to try to get organized for weekend sowing. I did get the heat mat sorted. Not even sure how I did it but perhaps the percussive maintenance assisted with the repair.

Sounds like everyone is really getting into the swing of things. Being less than 10f, I'll have to wait a bit, but when my outdoor gardening time comes, I'll be doing a dummy run on death every night too:blue thumb:

Decided I couldn’t be putting off clearing the greenhouse any longer. Had a good tidy up in there and set up so i can sow some seeds over the next few days. I also potted up some of the dahlia tubers that I had saved. Its the first time I’ve saved tubers-are you supposed to water them once potted up, or leave in the greenhouse now until march/april to plant outside??

Cant get out in the garden right now so I've had an hour in the tunnel.

I noticed that a silk vine had set seed a few weeks ago so I threw some into the top of a plant pot and put them in the prop. They had shot up about two inches so I took them out of the pot to pot on individually. The roots were a a good two inches as well - impressive for a few weeks growth.

Ive potted on a couple more canna and a few yucca seedlings.

With the days drawing out I can really see plants coming to life in the tunnel. Will soon be able to get some back outside and get my bench space back

Repotted, thinned out and generally tidied up the insectivorous plants, mainly sarraceia.

Parked in a layby earlier to collect some branches and cut offs left behind by the council's pruning of trees close to the layby. Added them to one of my log piles when I got home. Strong winds and rain have precluded my doing anything garden related over past few days. Improved today so hoping it will last so I can get some time outside.

Dimitris has nailed it and now flops onto his side on command :hapydancsmil::yahoo:. I bought him some ' extra tasty ' chicken thighs, which I think helped :heehee:

I have started to dig out the soil under the swing. I want to get as much of the kiddies' play area done as I can before the summer.

The problem I always have is finding a place to relocate the surplus soil. If I'm not careful I end up with a big pile that is constantly moving around the garden.

It looks like the rain has set in for today. Hopefully there will be opportunity to carry on later in the week,.

Water them sparingly until they get growing and leave them in the gh until the last frost, then start to harden them off, watch out for greenfly.

It will be bought wood that hasn't been seasoned and i think coal.
The seasoned wood doesn't give off so much of gas.

That's correct but freshly cut wood will need to be seasoned :blue thumb:.

I know quite a lot of people that just burn the fresh logs :nonofinger: but I don't know why because they produce more smoke and can spit a lot and emit particulates and clog up chimneys. They'll never stop some people from doing that :dunno: and you can't stop foraging.
