    Aloha everyone,

The sun is up :hapydancsmil:

    Dinner went well last night.

The casserole was voted a delicious meal and someone even went home with a doggy bag. :heehee: It was a one pot dish with chicken, onion (lots), garlic, herbs, and loads of veggies cooked in it - celery, courgettes, carrots, green beans, home grown tomatoes that were frozen. I dropped the tomatoes in a pan of hot water for a few minutes, then slid the skins off and chopped them whilst still frozen. This makes them end up like a puree :blue thumb:.

I added a big glug (technical cooking term ) of Pinotage. I'm not a purist who will only use a white wine with chicken :heehee:. I use whatever is sitting in the fridge as leftovers from when we have guests.

Keep well and have a great day

    Aloha!

wow I’ve only just woken up, slept really well

Shiney that casserole sounds yummy, I’ve just screen shot your recipe, we’ve got to try that :dbgrtmb:

Usydaisy sounds like you had a good sleep too, what are you upto today?

Moyra hope your feeling a lot better now? :)

It’s dry and sunny here for a change so may get out into the garden and tidy up. The plumber is coming at some point today, the toilet he fixed is over flowing lots outside

          cup of Tea/coffee anyone? :)

Hi there @Flumpy. How are you both? Have your parents got sorted with their power supply problem now....really hope so.

Yes thanks I slept well, didn't go to bed until 1am and was wide awake at 5:40, I didn't get up though as hubs brings me breakfast in bed on Sundays ( he did everyday but I suggested gently that it would be nice to have it on Sundays only.) So I had an hour reading my library ebook.

What am I up to....weeeeeell... I am planning to attempt a 3rd and final sowing of Cleome today ....they are such *******!!
A few years back they behaved and germinated well but since then :wallbanging:.

I did get a couple through on my first sowing this year but they died, second sowing...nothing at all.

@Cuttings has kindly given me some instructions and info that he works by ( and
he is very knowledgeable as he has his own nursery:dbgrtmb:) so I will sow this last lot ( no more seeds left now!) with renewed hope and anticipation!!!:fingers crossed:

I am also doing my own little experiment...I have set aside a few seeds and have soaked them overnight as one site said you should...hmmm we'll have to wait and see.

You've got a full day ahead by the sounds of it...overflowing toilet...not good ,but might prove a brilliant fertiliser!!!:heehee:,

Yes please...black coffee, I've got the chocolate digestives!!! :bigthumb:

Don't ask me for quantities as I just chuck in what I want. I always use chicken thighs for the casserole as they are the best and tastiest part to us. I remove the excess skin and as much of the fat as possible (that goes outside for Sarafi and the crows to share) and then lightly brown the pieces, skin side down, in just a very little olive oil (not virgin).

Remove the chicken (not fully cooked but skin brown, and then fry the onions and garlic in the oil, chuck in the chopped carrots and celery and lightly brown the onions. Then the tomatoes (a tin of Italian plum is good, zapped with the hand held blender), herbs, stock, wine and after the carrots are partly cooked add the green beans (French) and 5 - 10 minutes later (depending on the thickness of the beans) the courgettes and the mushrooms that I forgot to put in the previous post. Add the chicken back in just before the mushrooms and then the chicken should be cooked by the time the mushrooms are done.
You can also put in sliced peppers, fresh ginger and any other veg and flavouring you like. A teaspoon of Sumac goes well. :blue thumb:

Sounds like one of my hubs yummy recipes @shiney !!!. As I post I can hear him chopping veg etc. in the kitchen. He is an amazing cook and makes up all his own recipes or re - creates from memory the meals his Mum use to cook back in Iran. Thankfully all our sons have inherited this love and ability to make up their own unique menus too. I'm soo spoilt!!:heehee:. Sumac is used a lot here too, esp. on my hubs wonderful shish kebabs. Yum yum!!

Earlier posts have got me thinking @Flumpy........ referring back to @moyra who time travelled a day ahead of us all, you making an early morning breakfast cuppa, @shiney and his yummy dinner ....me with my choccy 11's biscuits.....now this is the exciting bit.....we could go back in time and have breakfast with Lori about now ( if my calculations are correct). :hapydancsmil:

What's on the menu Lori...I'm about to have my lunch , but I'll save a bit of room for your offerrings:dbgrtmb::biggrin:

                          Good day
It is sunny and still cold but the forecast is for temperatures to get up around the freezing mark so that is excellent :blue thumb:

I've got dough for pizza and also gluten free bread started and will be shaping and baking them up during my show. I won't be doing regular bread as I bought a loaf (:thud:) on Friday because I was out and I don't use the oven during the week. I did buy a multigrain so perhaps that is forgiving.. :heehee:

@shiney, I take it that you also debone the thighs or just as is?

I've got a pleasant day of puttering and slouching about ahead of me. And sipping tea all day long :coffee:

Cheers all and have a safe day :)

No, I never debone them in casseroles and curries etc. They're always a better flavour if cooked on the bone. The only time I debone them is if I'm marinading them in spices and grilling them.

I'm just having toast and soft boiled eggs... nothing exciting as I am trying to lose a little bit of blubber. I did cave in and eat three of the chocolate chip cookies I made yesterday so I guess that's an extra thousand steps for me!
