Positive actions at the Dentist yesterday. The Dental Clinic is part of a Private Hospital chain. When we checked in we were asked various questions ... had we been to China, Italy, etc, had we been sneezing, feeling unwell, etc. When I saw the Dentist, he went over the same questions. Someone was going around disinfecting all door handles. Hand disinfectant is available at all Reception Desks there.

Yesterday the first two cases were reported in the South of Portugal, a mother and daughter who have just returned from Italy. The mother is a teacher at the daughter's school so it has been shut down.

I shall put the kettle on & await your arrival Upsydaisy.

I think your dad would be very sensible to cancel his appointment. I need to see the asthma nurse for my annual check but I’m not going to the surgery, there’s no point putting myself in a room full of people coughing & sneezing!

Exactly Beckie that's what we're saying to my Dad, but being a cantankerous so and so at times he thinks they will contact him with such as advice if they deem it appropriate!!!
Told him that they are probably way too busy for that!!
              A cuppa would be good!:coffee:

@Jiffy I think a lot of people are in a panic, I don’t think there’s need for panic at this stage but I do think everyone needs to be sensible & wash their hands properly. When we did our grocery shop on Sunday it was exactly how you described it...like l ok ast minute xmas shopping, it’s crazy :noidea:
I do have one friend who is in complete denial & has decided that it’s all a fast & won’t even come to the uk!!!! It’s already here dear! I’m choosing to steer clear of her at the moment! She’s lovely but not the sharpest knife in the draw! I shall I-salute myself from her for a while! :). I hope your cough soon clears up

We went food shopping today ,first time in a couple weeks. We just did a normal shop...no loo rolls were involved!!:heehee:

However I can honestly say everyone at the checkout had one, two even three big packs!!!

We had on our list 1pkt of Penne Pasta...could we find any...nope.

One woman had 3pkts of loo rolls, countless pkts of Antibacterial wipes ( too many to count discreetly :heehee:) and numerous boxes of tissues.!!!

We had a couple of pkts of Paracetamol on our list too but like the pasta ....zilch!

                        Madness!:frown:

Luckily, stocking up with stuff (whilst it's cheap) is a way of life for us.

We already had a vast stock of pasta from some months ago when Sainsburys 'New Nectar' trial was on, and you could buy unlimited products (in multiple individual shops) and I think it was 30 Nectar pts/15p per packet of pasta and they reduced to clear all their penne and spaghetti to 10p, so they paid us 5p/pkt to take it away. Got about a year's supply. Also got 50p/100pts off 'basics' chopped toms (which cost 30p), so paid 20p to take away each of dozens and dozens of cans/cartons.

All the cheap pasta/pesto sauces have been cleared from the shelves. Bought loads of 31p pesto from Lidl when there were £5 off £20 vouchers in the newspapers.

Got the last packet of washing powder, but all sorts of cleaning stuff has been cleared out.

Bought a year's supply of reduced to clear tinned tuna a while back using conditional spend vouchers to get it even cheaper.

About a week ago Tesco were reducing to clear their own brand baked beans to 15p/can (in 6 packs) and we replenished our stockpile, plus got extra for when our daughter goes back to uni for her Masters.

We were OK for UHT milk as it's something we always buy at 50 or 75% off when the cardboard outer packing is damaged, but used our 5 carton ration on soya milk for our lactose intolerant daughter.

Sugar is selling fast, so despite having 18 galls of home made wine on the go (and about 60 galls ready to drink) got some for another 6 gall batch.

Farm Foods are selling 3 packs of 18 bog rolls for £11, and you can sign up online to get money off coupons, such as £2 off £25, £5 off £50, etc. Unlike supermarkets they had loads left yesterday. Kitchen rolls will dissapear next.

Only stuff having trouble getting is Ibuprofen which I need to dull the pain from a damaged a shoulder muscle, but people are buying this instead of elusive Paracetamol.

Mrs Scrungee is stocking up on chocolate, plus 1Kg packs of jaffa cakes from Farmfoods @ £1.99.

I'm just wondering how, if you a self isolating due to having a chesty cough etc. do you buy a bottle of cough medicine? or just a few paracetamol.
Just seems really impractical to me.
