Right next to the cart area and before going through and into the store, we have dispensers with disinfecting cloths. I usually use one on my hands first and then wipe down the cart handle. I think the chances of picking up COVid19 from a cart are much lower than picking up bacteria or other germs from those before me who had a poo and didn't wash their hands so I have always used the sanitizers!:eeew:

@pete glad to hear there is no beer shortage.

Well I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones as there have been no cases at all in our county/NHS area, and I'm not particularly worried. However I wonder how many people are checking what's happening in their local areas.

I notice, reading through that certain people could be taking things a little too far. I find comments like @Beckie76 's about cancelling doctors appointments slightly misjudged and adding to the scaremongering ( I feel fairly positive that you are under 70 and not receiving regular hospital treatment Becky and therefore would not be at any great risk )..

Don't forget at the moment crowds are still gathering at football matches, Crufts, the Cheltenham Festival etc.

Let's not forget that you have to spend a minimum of 15 minutes sitting or standing within 2 metres of someone to even have any risk at all.. This is why people walking around wearing face masks is totally unnecessary.

I apologise if I've offended anyone but I'm just getting so annoyed at some people's response to this situation..

@Upsydaisy , I think you are making the right decision but please speak to your dads doctor first, he'll tell you if it's safe.

No worries @KFF . We are going to cancel it, it was only to check on the wound site which is completely healed now, as I mentioned he was passed on to another team who have already seen him and are quite happy with everything and have arranged their next app with him later in the year. Being very frail now and approaching his 95th birthday we think it is a too big a risk to take.:)

Hi Upsydaisy, I knew your dad was of an age that's why I said I think you've made the right decision.
I do think that while this is going on if there is anything wrong with the elderly then doctors should make house calls. My mom (85 ) has already received a text message off our doctors telling her to either ring them or NHS Direct and if need be someone will be out to see her.

Yes @KFF our surgery is very good at providing for their elderly patients too. My Dad has home visits from his Dr, surgery nurses and the Phlebotomist, I can't fault then at all.:dbgrtmb:

@pete was that you caught at the Blackwall Tunnel by the Vehicle Standards Agency driving an overloaded, by one ton, van full of toilet rolls?

We've gotta laugh about all this haven't we? It's like a bizarre April Fools Day scenario.
Difficult to think it all through Logically in my opinion.
