Woke up with snuffly feeling of a cold coming on.... but I haven't stockpiled loo roll!

Anyhoo, people seem to be outraged globally at the UK's response but it's just the governments take on the situation, waiting for the peak at their 'best estimate' or some such. People seem to completely ignore that individuals can think for themselves and if they think there is risk out there then they can simply try to avoid it. We're still allowed to think for ourselves, right? :dunno:

It’s a bit like an old Si-Fi movie ,a deadly virus takes over the world and nobody knows quite what to do.
      I thought that was fiction..........apparently not.:yikes:

@KFF thanks for your comment regarding my asthma check up appointment which I’ve not made...I’m not scaremongering at all, you do realise that if I got the virus I would probably end up in hospital.....now I don’t know about you BUT I know the NHS is in its knees, this virus is going to be a ruddy disaster for the NHS, in China up to 40% of their health care workers have the virus now, firstly I’m going to be selfish & protect myself....I shall stay away from the doctors, my asthma meds are working really well, secondly there is someone else who is ‘ill’ who needs that doctors appointment more than I do right now....if everyone is sensible we can reduce the strain on our doctors & nurses. I’m not scaremongering at all, I’m picking up fact from friends who work for the NHS...incidentally they are very concerned about the outbreak. I shall close now....let’s keep washing our hands! I hope you stay safe xx

The frustrating thing is that we need bog roll, not to stockpile, but just because it was pay day yesterday and we are at that point where we normally buy it. None in Sainsburys last night, so we will have to be camped on Costco's doorstep when it opens in an hour and see if they have any.

@Beckie76 - is the way that our NHS operate actually part of the problem when it comes to things like this? You had what I assume to be a regular, check-up type appointment for an asthma clinic/check, yet your meds are currently working well and are settled, so from that it could be inferred that you don't need to see a doctor as such. This, on top of their usual sixteen different appointments until you finally get to speak to the person that you knew you needed to see on the first one, means that folks are in and out of doctors surgeries taking whatever viruses they have with them. I just wonder if we are sometimes doing things to ourselves if you follow my drift?

              Good morning folks,

I hope all my GC pals are well?

I’m slightly irritated this morning MIL & FIL both have underlined medical conditions , Kev has tried to speak to them about doing a weekly shop to reduce their contact with others but they are insisting that they ‘need’ to go everyday :thud: , this to us is just so silly :nonofinger:, anyway you can’t lead other people’s lives can you:noidea:.

I saw three of my friends yesterday who work on the frontline, they all seem very concerned about the outbreak. It’s quite a worry that they are all admitting that we don’t have enough ventilators/beds etc for when the outbreak peaks...they’ve already had emails explaining that ventilators & oxygen will be given to the youngest & most fit....anyone with a medical condition or who is old basically doesn’t stand a chance, I totally get the reasoning behind that but it’s a scary thought.
I’ve got to do some grocery shopping (still no panic buying here) I think I might take some disinfectant spray with me to clean the trolley & the button on the coffee machine! Not sure if that will go due too well but I don’t really care what people think!
Some people at work are beginning to take this situation very seriously but I still have a few people living in denial, it’s amazing how some people can just switch off & not listen!
Best I wash my hands & get on with my day.
Stay safe you lovely lot xx

According to a report from China there has been an unusual outcome from all their self isolating/compulsory isolation. Now that the restrictions have been lifted in a lot of areas they are getting a very large amount of divorces! :hate-shocked: Apparently couples aren't meant to be stuck indoors with each other for so long.

@Fat Controller let me explain, my GP surgery wants to see everyone with asthma once a year for a medication review, which is good practice....however I look after myself & my asthma really well, I take my meds properly & know what triggers my asthma if I do have a ‘blip’ which sometimes is unavoidable then I ring the surgery & ask to speak to my asthma nurse when she has a free slot, she will then ring me I explain what’s happened & generally she can tweak my meds over the phone & hey presto I’m back up & running, she has said on numerous occasions’Rebecca I wish all my patients were as easy as you!’ It’s about looking after yourself isn’t it? I suspect that somewhere along the lines there’s some ‘elf & safety which says the check up had to be done yearly so the surgery can’t be held reasonable for any asthma attacks or death should that happen. I absolutely hate going to the doctors, I can’t remember when I last saw my GP (it was probably two years ago or more) even then his opening words to me were ‘Hello Rebecca, I haven’t seen you in a while!’ If I go to the doctors there is a real reason, yes I see the nurse yearly & I have my smear test done every three years, but that’s more than enough for me! One day I may really need an appointment for something really serious then I will expect to be seen, but whilst I’m fit & able i will leave the appointments for someone else.
Oh & as for having sixteen appointments before you get anywhere, yes this does happen & can be really annoying...but that’s following procedures isn’t it!? (It’s Daft)

Neither have I; however a relative rang me last week to say she had stockpiled 6 months worth of toilet rolls under her bed. When I pointed out that you couldn't eat them; I was told that there were two types of people in the world those that knew why you stockpiled toilet paper and those who didn't. Suffice to say the conversation went rapidly down hill after that via Roman toilet practices and the presence of dock leaves in the garden.
Has anybody seen a book containing recipes for toilet roll? Crispy fried cardboard tube stuffed with shredded toilet paper anybody?.
