I just feel we must not only take care of ourselves and our loved ones but also the wider circle of people that pass through our lives daily. Hygiene and good manners are essential. We still go out and about and socialise with all our friends, and I would certainly miss my catch up with my female friends......that keeps me sane!!!!
We are limiting hugs and kisses as a way of greeting friends now, but that really is the only noticeable difference in our routine at the moment.

Good morning everyone what concerns Woo is that its alright asking us mature Owls to self isolate ourselves for 4 months ,we do have our shopping delivered but I have just gone on line and the first delivery slot I can get is for 2 weeks time and it will indeed get longer:dunno:

We just don't go anywhere, I stay here at home, hubby has to work at the schools during exams and mocks he does all the shopping and we order everything else online. I only go to the dentist twice a year and the hygienist, don't go to the doctors very often only go to see Keith every saturday. I'm just happy staying at home doing the gardening and walking the boys.

We can't stay isolated, it's not possible but large gatherings should be stopped.

I may regret saying this but I would rather catch this bug now and get it over and done with. All the generation above me and Mrs JWK are long gone so we are not responsible for any close vunerable family members any more.

There is lots of confusion about whether you can catch it twice or remain infectious.

Ah yes ..large gatherings..totally in agreement there.:dbgrtmb: @Logan

We each have our lifestyles...but although you and your hubs don't go out don't forget about the family and friends that come and visit you??? Your immunity could have decreased from lack of exposure to public situations so you too could have become more vulnerable. Take care .

When is all this c@#p gonna stop ?
Robert Peston is someone I stopped listening to years ago after he left the Beeb, there's been nowt in news about pensioners being locked up for 4 months.

@wiseowl , haven't you got an Iceland store near you ? Ours are still offering two hour time slots for delivery all day every day , including Sundays.

These are just the sort of things I was referring to in my post earlier on.

It's all beginning to get to a nonsensical continuous round of scaremongering, Chinese whispers and gossip.

I know what you mean John, if it wasn't for my Dad and brother I would feel exactly the same. The quicker we get it the quicker immunity against it will form. As I said I still go about my normal life but in protecting myself and all others I do check my temperature now before venturing out....that's all!

With you @KFF!!!! The other day my Dad had a programme on in the morning , Friday, ( I was busy so not sure what it was but I think it was on BBC1) It was based on how the media are keeping the public informed about this virus with unnecessarily scaremongering info and words!! We're not stupid..just give it too us in plain old English!! Wash hands, be aware of any changes in your or your loved ones health and act as is deemed appropriate, avoid being overly kissy, huggy with people.. even my old Dad only gets a kiss on top of his head now!!!! Just good old common sense.:dbgrtmb:

Woo if you lived near me I would offer to collect your shopping for you.:)

P.S. I assume Jeremy Corbyn will be locked up, together with most of the House of Lords and Supreme Court.

As I said..scaremongering. We HAVE to build up our own bodily defences. Yes OK the really old and frail...yes it goes without saying, but not all. There are a lot of healthy over 70s whose body is quite capable of looking after itself, and would rather try and continue doing so that waiting in isolation all summer for a vaccine to come along.

Yes, but he was a Chinese Doctor trying to tell the Chinese authoritarian Government who wouldn't listen. Whether or not a Western Democratic Government would have listened and paid attention at such an early stage is open for debate.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

                                Hi,

Have not seen all the messages in this long post, so forgive any duplication, but getting really put off by the BBC TV news coverage which seems to be enjoying using it as its only topic for the whole half hour program.

Seems every single Corona death, sad though each is, is met with such shock and the polititions on tv now always apologising for that happening.

We were suprised to hear mentioned on the news programs that between 10,000 and 30,000 folk in the UK die each Year of 'normal' Flu, which sounded very high considering you can have the yearly vacination.

Did a bit more digging from official sources and as below the real figures really do put things in perspective.

                                Uk population, 68million
Uk Daily Death rate (2018) approx 10 per 1000

That equates to a 'natural' UK death rate of around 1600 per Day.
