They expect most surgeries to go over to phone appointments. They will then decide whether they need to see the patient and arrange a set time and have nobody else around. That's the theory. :rolleyespink:

Although the Isle of Man is still clear of the virus they are taking some wise precautions. The population is also helping itself below. I'll point out that Ellan Vannin Fuels is the supplier to garages for vehicle fuel and the shop is attached to one of these.

Hi @Sheal, thanks for posting that.

At last some people who are showing some common sense in all this.

If only there were more people like this on the mainland who were showing the same compassion and thoughtfulness instead of the selfish "I'm having that, couldn't care about you " brigade we have.

I take it that all this so called panic buying is happening in the big Cities and large Towns rather than the smaller Towns as, as I've said before, there's no sign of it happening around here:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

As I said earlier as well, @ARMANDII , same here. I was wandering if instead of what you said, larger town/smaller town , it was more of a South/North divide thing., as in our borough there are over 110,000 people and I've seen no shortages at all.

Thanks @KFF. :) Much of the population of mainland Britain tends to think of the island as being antiquated, but the people there have much more sense than they are given credit for.

Panic buying is well under way here in the Highlands @ARMANDII and our first confirmed case was only declared this last week. The 'powers that be' have decided not to announce the area that case is in.

Round this way the panic buying started just after the heavy emphasis was put on 'don't panic buy' that the big supermarkets were sending out by email! One of the store managers said that they got mobbed within an hour of the message going out. :rolleyespink:

I do think a lot of it is around London (sadly where I am), and shows more than ever what selfish gits live around here - - not all of them, I have to say, but there are many.

We've had a brief neighbours chat over the weekend as none of us have done the stockpiling thing, and it was simply a case of us all saying that we just knock doors if folks get stuck and we will sort something out. The one we are keeping an eye on, and haven't spoken to directly, is the chap across the road who is 92 and has some form of dementia, albeit still reasonably with it. He has meals on wheels, carers and his family come to see him on a regular basis, but we can't help but worry about him.

Otherwise, there seems to be a hell of a lot of selfish sods around in the wider area, which is disappointing.

Good morning well its started just been down Tesco's and the first words spoken by the assistant were"You shouldn't be out" didn't know wether to be offended or not,I personally felt very patronised ,but then she said I worry about because you are my favourite customers:smile: The shelves were empty and it is a large super store,so I am going to blame the younger generation for all the stockpiling:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

All the stores very busy this morning, car parks full, shortage of trollies, empty shelves everywhere. As more and more stuff runs out shoppers are clearing out other items. At this rate they'll be completely cleared out before next weekend. Loads of people seem to have taken the day off to spend going from store to store.

In the absence of any bog rolls, hand wash, tinned fish, flour, rice, pasta and baked beans, Pet food, potatoes, eggs and frozen pizzas are the latest must have purchases.

                            Local garden centre very quiet.
