I've got to be honest, I am struggling with it a bit - the numbers of cases and deaths are not correlating with the reaction that we are seeing, which is suggesting that there are folks that know something that is not being let on. Part of me wants to maintain as much normality as I possibly can, however things are rapidly changing around me and I am having less and less choice in which decision to make as the choices themselves are fewer.

There is another huge part of me that does not want to be isolated away - I had enough of that just over a year ago; but, on the other hand, I have to accept that I am not as fit as I used to be, and contracting this thing would likely see me off this time around, and therefore I need to be sensible. Sadly, it looks like my trip home to Scotland is now well and truly off.

If you start suggesting some poor sod is going to have to not have contact with the real world for possibly 3 months can you not understand you are causing total panic.
Unfortunately, those you intend putting that restriction on are those that are most likely to be not able to panic buy.

Now you have already started a panic buy situation earlier, and every stupid idiot that was able bodied went out and stripped the shops of everything they could think of.

Rationing should have been the first option once they started the panic, but no, still no rationing, still a free for all.

But its ok for us to go to work and kids to go to school, but don't go anywhere where there are large amounts of people all together.
      That is my point. :wallbanging:

IMO, supermarkets/shops should have put a limit on all items bought, but, IMO they are only in it to make money, they are not, it would appear bothered if their stock sells out in an hour or in a week. The Government perhaps should have instructed these stores to introduce limits.

I think most on this forum make some very good points, not really worth falling out over though.

I'm over 70, have my daughter & grandaughter living here, if I stay in for months they could bring the Virus home for me to catch.

@Sheal , It looks like someone has been listening to the IOM.

Richard Walker the boss of Iceland has given the go ahead for all his stores to set up an hour a day for older people to shop alone.

Tonight in the USA a group of 45 volunteers will be starting a trial of a vaccine to protect against Coronavirus. It could be ready ( if all goes well ) later in the Summer.

None of what has been said today by the Government has been mandatory but advisory and I thought they made that plain. What they did say was those at risk, the over 70's, those pregnant with asthma, those with asthma, those in elderly with underlying health conditions etc. People can go for walks, take their dog out, and even those if I read it right, with Covid 19 can go for a walk, take their dog out but not go shopping.
I think when it comes to panic buying it's been those who think "Me first, and everyone else can go to Hell doing it mostly, with the panicking sheep following behind.
We also know that it doesn't take much to panic a lot of people mainly because they haven't taken the time to assimilate what's been said or written. They then misinterpret what has been said, add they're own negative thinking to it and then spread the word that everything is martial law.
We also know that in any country, including ours, that there is an element out there that will do their own thing no matter what advice is given, will put others at risk and add to the rising number of fatalities without breaking into a sweat.

Pete and I never fall out, John, we do have a difference of opinion now and then, but we have known each other for too long to disrespect each other. :love30:
What I've been trying to say is that this situation, as everyone knows, is fast moving, serious and deadly for a lot of folk. What we don't want, or need, is for things to be said, even in joking form, that people could misinterpret as being true or even close to the truth. The important thing to stress is that we are being given, at the moment, advice not instructions and there is a difference.

Pete is always facetious, Lori:dunno::heehee: I once, while in the rif raf, crossed swords with a Group Captain who told someone that he "wanted my head on a plate". When I was told that I rang the Group Captain and told him that I believed he wanted my head on a plate.... there was what seemed like a long silence and then I was told "don't be facetious", my head is still on my shoulders.:dunno:

That's good to know @KFF. :) And while we're talking Mann....this years TT races have been cancelled. The last time that happened was in 2001 due to foot and mouth disease.
