I've also had a very genuine offer for someone to do the shopping for me. My life long friend's daughter who lives in Manchester 38 miles from me has phoned me this morning and offered/nagged:heehee: me to let her do my shopping for me!! It took several minutes to convince her that I was still fit enough to go shopping and that I would take all precautions to stay at a good distance from people. I told her that I carry a Cattle Prod to ensure people stay at a safe distance:heehee:

Thanks for all the really useful information @shiney

This is the issue with the crazy golf place - they're saying they havent been told to shut down so are not willing to do anything. Hopefully Bojo will clarify things over the next few days.

Today has been a day of two halves..emotionally that is....I ventured out first thing to get some shopping for some of the older folks...I was shocked to see the majority of shelves were bare (naive as I am):doh:annnyway got what I could ,it wasn't a huge amount...duly delivered their bits and bobs but it was sad not to be able to give them a peck on the cheek and cuddle especially my darling Mum:sad:...then had to go to the chemist to pick up some prescriptions ..well that visit soon put the fire back in my belly....there was a chap in the small local supermarket grabbing tubs of Baby Milk..he turned and smiled at me and I said atleast your baby won't go hungry and smiled back..He said "It's not for a baby it's for me,you can't get hold of powdered milk so this'll do"..I was :mute: livid... I just said very considerate of you:mad:I had to walk away before I lost the plot I was so angry, then in total contrast in the chemist an elderly chap was talking to one of the staff and after reading the notice saying they were short staffed and very busy with apologies for the wait..he said "I've got time on my hands can I help"...he must have been in his eighties bless his lovely heart..Different strokes for different folks I guess...

Got enough food for the dog, hens [1] and us to last some time, plus bought over £200's worth of DIY materials to keep us busy at home for some time.

Our daughter's work that she's been doing before going back to uni for a masters could now be about to disappear, and whether unis will be open in September is unclear. At least going to a different uni she's going to be staying in halls, where if she'd booked private accommodation and her uni was closed, she (and we as guarantors) could have been liable for the rent of the entire house.

Lots of hard times ahead for many people.

[1] Buying in layers pellets for our hens this morning told loads of people frantically stocking up for their hens, horses, livestock, etc.

This is my take on two type of people:

1...........A middle aged couple, wife said to husband, "Get four of those beans" he said, "You have four at home" "No, no I want four more.

2.......... A young couple , There was a lady with a walking frame in front of me at a supermarket, the young guy put her items on the conveyor belt for her & then packed the shopping for her and put it in her walking frame basket....It was lovely to see.

Today we had a bag of dog food from mobile pet foods, a man with his own business, he's also a friend of ours. He told us that one of his customers rang him up and asked if she could have 6 bags of dog food, but she doesn't have that many any other time and he said no because other dogs would have to go without. He can only order so many at a time. He said that he will still be able to get the food but have to give 2 weeks notice. I've always have a bag in front because I sometimes have to wait for him to get a delivery.

For me it is going to be at least 12 weeks, and that starts as of now. I will be working from home, I will not be able to go into supermarkets or large shops, but of course I can have a wander down a quiet street or go for a drive in the car, but that is about it.

Went to Morrisons today for a small white loaf - they had none - and very little of the other breads.

Most of the pre packaged meat had gone, I didn't bother looking at the loo roll or hand wash.

Have discussed the situation with Mum and she is self isolating - I'm her official gofer - available at the drop of a hat - but will myself be careful to keep my distance from people.

And yes, the allotment half yearly meeting was cancelled.

As Boris said yesterday - the time to act is now...
