Easy way to get rid of neighbors, is to wipe your nose across the back of your hand, making a snorty sniff sound, then put your hand out as if to shake hands, whilst coughing. £1 says they run away.:panic:

Today I got home from work at 6 o'clock and had 20 minutes to plant some crocus bulbs I bought at the weekend. It will be nice to be able to do little bits in the evenings.

Another very mild day, (59f) so I was out in the garden again!!:hapydancsmil: I got the garden spade and fork out of the storage bin and decided to do a job that has been on the list of "things to do" for a while, and that was to reduce the very large clump of Phlomis in the "walk around" border. I was anticipating it being a long hard job but, to be honest I had dug up a 6' x 4' of Phlomis within minutes and it ended up on the path while I decided what to do with it and cleaned up the cleared area.
I also discovered 3 nice big shoots of Foxtail Lily that the Phlomis had be covering which is a nice surprise, There was also some blades of Couch Grass so that got a swift treatment of Glysophate
and I will be checking on those over the next few days.
I also have a large clump of deep red Day Lilies and I was tempted to reduce them by two thirds but decided to leave it for this season to see how well it flowers. Then I got an empty garden sack and getting on my knees started clearing the lawn of dead leaves and debris left over from the Winter. There were also some weeds, Celandine, and Snowdrops so the Snowdrops were carefully lifted while the weeds and Celandine were cut out at the roots. It took about 25 minutes of shuffling along on my knees and a half full sack before the job was job.
Another job that appeared while I was de-weeding was the fact that the base of the main Bird Bath on the lawn was overgrown with grass and weed, so I had to use a sharp knife to cut around the square base and pull the clumps of earth and grass clear of the base and it looks a lot better now.
Looking at the huge mound of dug up Phlomis I decided to fill some sacks with it and drag them to the Council Green Bin and tip them into that rather than dump them into the Compost Bins.
Jobs done I headed for the House and a Mug of Tea.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

My gran always told me as a child you'll always find some good in every bad situation,
Well living here in france one of the only things ive never liked is the hunting people "but" today because of this lock down due to the world suffering with this virus the hunting has come to an sudden end a bit early and so living deep in the countryside its been really a nice silence from the sounds of hounds /guns blasting away and ive enjoyed the singing from a Black bird thats kept going all this afternoon.
Ive only two neighbours in this hamlet and like myself they all enjoy gardening and the countrylife ,
So what my gran had to say all those years ago has come to pass and the good for today is the sound of silence,

T was a mix of sun and clouds today and got up to 40f. I turned on the gas heater in the greenhouse and moved some potted plants from the cellar into it and then potted up my kelsaes, chives, mints, etc. Now, like the Dalmatians, there are 101 pots in there. I've got the heat set to hopefully keep it hovering around the 45f mark overnight and when the sun is not shining. Our nightly lows are going to be a bit brutal (20f) but I was running out of room downstairs.

First I had to shift around the plants left in the cellar to select the ones going outside and then later added another 56 soil blocks that are sown and hopefully will germinate. So that means there will hopefully be approximately 200 seedlings left to bring upstairs come the warmer weather.

              Altogether a good day :)

Rain started again this evening . Will need to check septic treatment plant tomorrow, although not sure we can bail it out if needed. It was emptied 16th Dec last year and emptied yesterday, can't afford to keep having it pumped out ( £135 per pump out ).

Good luck with your new trees @Snorky85 and your neighbours. I do feel for you, bad neighbours can make life so unpleasant.

Very cold with strong winds today so nust had a walk around the loop and along the beach. Wind strong enough to push me sideways. Talking of beaches I was wondering where Verdun is. I know he's not usually around during the winter but it's spring now, I thought he would be back ??

                    Hello all

I hope you are all well :)

I have been weeding, the first time this year and have managed to get the front garden and the left border (the worst affected) in the back done.

After that I needed to lay down

The bottom and right borders in the back can wait, for now :)

                    Thanks

                    Kevin

Gardening is something we all enjoy, Kevin, but doing jobs, including weeding is something we do and enjoy........but a bit at a time and not trying to do too much is the secret. The garden will still be there and the plants and weeds still growing when you get up, have a cup of Tea, after you've had your lay down!!!:dunno::heehee::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

                        Hello @ARMANDII

The thing is, I was actually going to get the gardener I use to come in and clear the weeds to get me back on top of things, unfortunately, I stretched myself too far, financially, with regards to the Patio and left myself short so I decided to attempt the weeding myself.

The good thing is I now know my limits so I will be able to pace myself better in the future :)

Not to sound boring, but I only drink water, no Tea, Coffee, Milk, Alcohol etc.

                        Thanks

                        Kevin

Well, technically, Kevin, I only drink water but it usually has Tea, Coffee, Milk, Alcohol added:dunno::heehee: I have friends who only drink water, and some like it served hot. I've tried it, I confess, but it doesn't seem to quench my thirst unless there's some sort of flavour added to it:wallbanging:

Take your time, Kevin, and don't worry about it. The garden is there for you to enjoy and there will always be, as we all know, weeds growing. If you do decide to do some more weeding, take it slowly and gently, and then when you feel tired.........stop!:dunno::thumbsup::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:
