I too am posting as a member and not as admin in this post, and I am somewhat blunter than a few around these parts (maybe this is made worse with this being my umpteenth 16 hour day this week dealing with the fall out from this nonsense...) - either there is something wrong with your keyboard and the " symbol is stuck , or you are deliberately trying to get someone to bite..... well, here is that bite, so in the nicest possible way, can you please knock it off.

For the record, I believe you have a very valid point - however, now is neither the time nor the place to discuss it. All of us, throughout the world, need to do everything we can to get on top of this virus; once that has been achieved, then we DO need to look at other health and hygiene situations.

We aren't running out of food at the stores, just some items. However, this is a good opportunity to start using up old pantry and frozen items. I've decided to cook and use most of what is older than 2 months in the freezer and find ways to use the pantry items.... maybe bake items that freeze well, hopefully all desserts... And fill up the freezer with fresher goodies:)

At the hospital today they were not allowing visitors. Only those with appointments. The doors were locked except where there was staff to screen people and they've always had hand sanitizers in multiple locations. I felt zero risk :)

Yet to see anybody panic buying cut daffodils and they will be scarce in a few weeks time.

Found this earlier today: "Finally, there are some potentially very interesting results from France on hydroxychloroquine. That compound (and chloroquine itself) have been the subject of much interest, and these are the first trial data that I’ve seen. A number of things need to be said up front: first of all, this was a small trial. Second, it was open-label. Third, there were significant patient drop-outs in the treatment group, making the sample even smaller. Under normal circumstances, to be honest, I would be looking askance at this, but (1) these ain’t normal circumstances and (2) the effect size seen in this work may be significant."
Nothing to do with Donald. Both chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine have been used against malaria, however not used much these days due to resistance.

My daughter has sent this to me from the Isle of Man....

Some local idiots decided not to self isolate on returning to the island. They posted this proudly on social media with a photo of themselves at a local restaurant, not realising the island now has a new 'flouting' fine of £10,000.

My dentist surgery was completely empty today - apart from me. My dentist said "I see you're allergic to wool, does this include cotton wool". I replied "I'm not sure but doubt it". She then said "we have had to stop using air to dry areas worked on and are back to using swabs as part of our new regulations".

And finally - Tesco. I did my weekly shop today and inside the door a board announced only two items of any particular food are permitted. The same applying to many other items that have been taken by the marauding hordes. Firstly, there was nothing on the shelves to have two or more items of, and secondly I'd like to thank (with the exception of our responsible GC'ers :)) all those selfish, greedy people that have taken and hoarded the foods I need to live on from the 'Free From' aisle, as well as other basic foods like meat and potatoes. My diet is strict and I can't eat processed food.

If Coronavirus doesn't get me, starvation will!

My apologies dear friends. I needed to sound off not just for me but for those amongst us that also have specific dietary needs.

Hi Sheal, I agree with @ARMANDII , no need to apologise at all. I hope you can find what you need.

Do you have any smaller shops or Iceland or Heron Foods near you as we've found down here that these aren't being targeted ( and yes I specifically used this word ) by the morons who are doing this.

Keep an eye open for any outdoor markets near you as well. Ours was on today and all the usual stalls, including food stalls were there.
We have food in all our town centre shops and market. Here it's just the out of town superstores that can't cope.

Sorry, I don't understand what you have written @CanadianLori.

                              Thanks @KFF. :)

I live near a small town which has the basics but the situation is the same there as everywhere else. Tesco is in Inverness and that's 12 miles from where I live. Mr S and I were told by an employee there that people are coming from outside the area to buy up supplies. What makes it more infuriating is that Scotland has just a handful of virus cases, there's no need to panic buy.

I forgot to add to my previous post that all the empty shelves in Tesco have a notice stating that supplies won't be replenished before the 21st April.

There's only one outdoor market, that is held in Inverness once a month and to be honest isn't worth the petrol to visit, it's only a few stalls and tends to be vegetables. There's a small Lidl on the outskirts of Inverness where I managed to get toilet rolls today but they are restricting to one pack of nine, how long they will be available I don't know.
