She would be considered for benefits. Small business owners, contractors, everyone who is being shut down is entitled. Please tell her not to lose heart. The feds are willing to add 83 billion to our debt to get everyone through this. And we are a country of 40 million so it's not a fluff.

The free entry to NT gardens didn't last long, so nany people turned up yesterday that they're now totally closed from today. We live within walking distance of one and it was mayhem, so many cars streaming in, it made us divert from our dog walk.

The free entry was partially made possible by the NT laying off most of their staff on zero hours contracts, which locally is everbody apart from gardeners and managers. Now the last few wont have work, and whether the gardeners will still be manicuring the lawns/topiary and providing 7 days a week TLC to flower beds with no income and no visitors is to be seen.

Employment in our village has been hit hard. It alpears uncertain that the zero hours staff will be entitled to this 80% of pay announced. Many salaried live in tied accomodation and if they go elsewhere will no longer be entitled to their homes.

 

RHS gardens are closed today. I expect that they may well remain shut for the duration. The same goes for Kew and a few other garden websites I've checked.

 

Ah, bless you for going ahead with the purchase ... but I did have to laugh! At least the birds won't go hungry and you are set up with feed for a while!

It appears that some people still don't understand how serious the situation is.

 

The government will still help her - doesn't matter if she is a contractor or employee or if it is a big or small company (names don't matter) as long as she has records of what she normally earns in her capacity. If she is not covered by EI, there will be emergency funds.

They are now starting to fine businesses that have been told to shut if they don't obey and a woman in Quebec has been arrested and forced into isolation after she was discovered mixing with people after being diagnosed with the virus!

Personally, I think the NT (and RSPB) made a gross error of judgement promoting free access to their gardens and reserves, which could lead to everywhere being shut down. They turned it into a free for all - literally. They might as well have advertised free bog rolls for very visitor.

It wasn't that bad when a friend and I were camping in Wales and we drove to walk Snowdon on the day of the Round Snowdon Sponsored Fun Run (pre-internet days). We simply went somewhere else.

All this makes total lockdown closer.

 

All NT campsites are closed. They are offering non specific alternatives of their choice sometime in the future (with additional charges if in a higher season), losing loads of your money if you cancel. Good job I'd delayed my trip I intended to take to The Lakes before Easter. Those booked for April lose all or most of tgeir money.

Seeing lots more people walking in the country side all age's, seen 15 people today this is very rare to see this many out here, we did have Foot and Mouth out here hope we don't get Corona, tis nice to see people out here walking

 

They need to realise people want to go out, the weather has at last picked up and the only option left to people is the countryside, they have shut down everything, or at least made anyone who wants to open up feel like a paria.

Cant see the problem, we are spending lots of time in queues at supermarkets huddled together, so what is wrong in being out in the open air.
I know where I'd rather be.

They keep adding to the time limit likely, from 12 weeks upwards, they are scaring the living daylights out of half the population, they all seem to think it's their last day on the planet.

If you've got some bog rolls apparently you stand a chance of getting through this.
