The terms of every Operators Licence in the land dictates that frequent inspections be made of all vehicles (usually no more than 4 to 6 weeks apart, and often every 21-28 days), with fully documented defect reporting and maintenance records mandatory, so it is not unreasonable to work on the premise that these vehicles will have been in front of a trained mechanic fairly recently and is therefore less likely to have major defects. On that basis, I sort of see the logic to be honest.

Just had an email from our dentist, they have closed until further notice but have given a contact number should there be any emergency treatments needed.

I tend to agree with @JWK that gardeners may be allowed to work if they work in isolation - which most jobbing gardeners do.

There will be lots of individual situations that will need clarifying.

The person that helps us in the garden can easily work without any contact with us apart from an email telling him what jobs need doing. He can get into the back garden without coming into the house. So total isolation.

We have a decorator booked to paint our summerhouse in the summer and redecorate inside. That could be done without any contact between us. I can see him asking to bring it forward as indoor jobs in houses shouldn't be done. We had to book him 18 months in advance!

I'm waiting for a similar message for my annual check up and hygienist appointments that are due in April.

I've already had that message from the chiropodist - which crossed electronically with me cancelling it anyway :heehee:

I doubt that very much as the critical word being used by the Government is "essential". So, only those workers who are regarded as essential to the public system will be allowed to work and travel to work and I can't see, with all due respect to all our hard working professional gardeners, such professional gardeners being regarded as "essential". There is a Government list out on who they regard as essential workers and I don't think you will finder Professional Gardeners on that list:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

                    I've just had a thought ( ooh me 'head 'hurts now :) ) ......

Boris has said that food shops etc are exempt from the closure order, what about outdoor ones ? We have two food stalls in the square, and one is an excellent fruit & veg stall.

I think outdoor Markets are to licence by the local Council, KFF, and as they will definitely attract more than one couple at a time, and now with the stricter rules I shouldn't think the Council will let them open, nor do I think will there be enough customers to make it worthwhile to the Market people.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Sorry @ARMANDII , perhaps I wasn't clear, these aren't market stalls. They are two permanent 7 day a week stalls which they cover over with tarpaulin on a night , with all the goods still there.

On the Government website doesn't make it clear still to me, it stated - Travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home - which my job and others it applies to  . The essential key workers bit seems to of disappeared .

It says food markets can stay open as well @KFF :noidea: doesn't say indoor or outdoor so I would assume both are fine.

Full guidance on staying at home and away from others

It just mentions 'non-essential shops and community spaces'.

I'm sure there will be an expanded version of the rules in the next day or so. :noidea:

Are there any farm shops not too far from you? They may have something as they don't seem to have had as bad a rush as town shops. :)
