The new project

It's a possible but I'm not sure it will fly with the Mrs! Could even be fun on some level... The builders, as far as I know, will keep on working but the roof isn't even constructed yet so it's whether they can complete that and get the house weathertight prior to the boot falling. Will be having a talk with them today

I've just watched Michael Gove on the TV and he has clarified a number of points. These include: building work can continue as long as the workers can keep to the social distancing guidelines. He was quite specific and mentioned it a few times. So it seems as though your work can go ahead as long as they can keep away from each other.

 

Thanks Scrungee, there's a couple of weeks at least to get the roof finished but windows have been measured and can be fitted. Already had a chat with the builder - he's keen to carry on as long as he's allowed! If he's not permitted at any point then not much we can do but take the delay.

Which is a huge relief! Was keeping an eye on any clarifications etc and as this isn't a big site then we should be OK. Lots of large builds have had the site shut down.

They're builders - they always stay away from each other!

@Loofah I have a DIY building project on the go currently. I decided to get as much material on site as possible to keep me going. I use Manyas at Slyfield Green you probably have heard of them. Anyway they said that supplies like sand and cement are drying up as the bigger companies are closing down. The driver was feeling very down as it will cripple their business. Apparently many builders are still working but for how long?

I got a delivery of sand and cement this morning but they said they won't get any more in after they empty their yard:

 

Well we're beyond the need for sand, bricks, mortar etc but do need timber and tiles... Oh, actually will need screed for the kitchen floor. Just have to wait and see! Builder is pretty switched on thankfully so anything he reasonable expects to need he has a source for.

Just got off the phone with Trev (builder!) and he has plenty of people on site working hard (apparently), they're just working out priorities and supply chain. Lots of merchants are now closed, although travis perkins only for 24 hours while they seek clarification, but he reckons we should be OK. He has a small issue with timber supply but reckons there's a source and fingers are all crossed

 

All focus is 'to the rooof!'... have to select tiles in next couple of days which is tough as we can't travel to see them with the travel ban!

Have just sat and ordered a load of tile samples for bathroom flooring/wall and some engineered wood for the kitchen and maybe hallway. Couldn't believe that businesses will send out bulky items for free
