I had to go into Boots yesterday to pick up my monthly prescription that had run out. Id got there at 8:30 so no rushing but they were shut til 9:30 for restocking. Then at 9:30 they were letting in 6 people at a time of which 2 were for pharmacy pick ups etc. Managed to get my prescription and 1 pack of cold and flu tablets for one of our neighbours who is high risk.

Needless to say, I’ve now set up monthly postal service for my prescriptions. And luckily I bought a big tub of paracetamols back with me from Washington DC...they sell them in 1000 tablet pots...so were ok on that front. I just hope my migraine meds will be available...the type i have are always in short supply.

Just been to get the MOT - bloke wouldn't let me in the waiting room. Had to wait somewhere off site. I do have a good relationship with the garage - so they let me have the loan car whilst they MOT'd my car.

ASDA - popped in to get some food for myself and Mum. Woman at checkout stopped me buying more than 2 loaves of bread - so had to return 2 loaves to the shelves. I explained that I was in fact doing 2 shops - 1 for me and 1 for Mum - but I still couldn't buy more than 2 loaves. So, it's either more frequent shops or Mum comes with me. Not ideal - but then I suppose anyone could say they were shopping for someone else - and all this because of nincompoops panic buying.

I know in the ' bigger picture' this is not remotely of any importance but......do you think I could still pick up a big bag of multipurpose compost... I'm on my last bag now and still have loads to sow.?

I agree, Shiney, there is a constantly shift, change and clarification where the Government is trying to go into detail as to who can and who can't, as self employed, work. Gove's explanation of Building Workers being able to work because they will be in the open air but must stay two metres apart is then blurred by the Mayor of London saying that he thinks it should only be those working on Public building sites and not those on private Housing sites:wallbanging:
This is going to dissolve into a mish mash of different interpretations of who and who can't while the Government tries to defend, justify and "clarify" what and who is classified as essential.
This is, unfortunately, only a partial "lock down" and so because of the different financial and personal pressures on people it will not work as people will interpret as they want and need to.
To be honest, I can't see the partial lock down lasting long as, there seems to be a large section of the UK public who will just ignore the rules of the partial lock down, and who will still go out into the parks etc in large numbers as though they are invulnerable, as they did before, will force the Government within days to impose a full lock down with penalties. That will be a great shame for the responsible, level headed self employed people who will pay the price of such inane, moronic behaviour of a section of people who only care about themselves.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::ouch1:

                HS2 will get completed eventually!

Just got off the phone with our builder and although builders can build, the merchants are closing! At least most are, some aren't and travis perkings have shut for 24 hours while they seek clarity... So builds can happen, depending on supply

:dunno:...trying to persuade hubs to drive out to see if our normal place is open, but he's not keen. I don't blame him because he was so ill last year with a serious chest infection that now he really doesn't want to take any chances...and now of course I don't want to chance bringing anything home him!!

This is where people like the mayor of london should wind their neck in and stop giving alternate views! Not remotely helpful trying to undermine the government at this point.

The people that are dying are the ones who are either old or have underlying health issues - so keep him indoors eh?

If the Store is still open then they will sell it to you as that is the reason why they are still open, and as it is only a partial lock down which is being widely interpreted by people according to their own thinking and needs........which is not a good situation.:dunno:

Agreed, Loofah. But he does have the powers to make that definition and close all private Housing sites down and he has a whole armoury of powers where he can use restrictions, banning, and closure of other places.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley:

Almost two thirds of patients who fall seriously ill from coronavirus are obese, as medics warn being overweight raises the risk of dying from the disease

And more than a third of critically ill patients being under 60 shows it is not only the very elderly who are at risk.

Wickes are sold out of MPC in nearly every store, closest with stock is Northampton.
