Thanks for the info @Scrungee Id just ordered two bulk bags from a chap called Daniel who owns PlantGrow to plant our pleached trees...it is absolutely fantastic stuff. I'm hoping he can still get it delivered. I hope he does ok as I think its a relatively new business.

Mrs Scrungee's last physio appointment for her broken wrist is next week and she's going to cancel it. I find it rather unerving sitting opposite watching her keep doing this exercise

          Forgive my ignorance.
I cannot believe we were not further down the line as to a cure (for want of better word)for these viruses as we all knew dam well they were coming...the warnings were there.
Instead of throwing billions of pounds at it all of a sudden now.
I know it is easier said than done.
          Just a thought

It does show that the world is very vulnerable even to the very smallish things you can't see/touch/smell etc and can cause a world wide problem

                  Note.
                  Indirectly linked to the virus.
Mr Fothergills seeds had a record day yesterday ,they took more money in one day than this whole week last year.
They are struggling desperately to keep up with demand.

Even today, roders, when we can kill enemies thousands of miles away by remote control, we have to know who the enemy, what they look like, what they're weakness is, and where they are.
But nobody is able to forecast what disease will strike where and when, with Viruses being even worse as they can mutate and create strains that no one can forecast. Nature is something that we will never control and it will always be able to use evolution to create new Viruses and diseases.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

We are a long way down the road to solutions. Trials have started of some drugs that are being "repurposed", some of these were developed for SARS and MERS and then put on the shelf when those diseases faded away. However you have to be sure of the safety of these drugs and you have to increase/start production then distribute. Earlier in this thread mention was made of chloroquine and hydrochloroquine being used, shortly after this some people in France were reported as having been taken to hospital with overdoses.
Vaccines are being fast tracked as they were for the Ebola epidemic in West Africa the other year. This is possible because of advances in technology, DNA,RNA and protein sequencing and synthesis. The internet is being used to share data around the world and because of these advances the virus was identified and sequenced within in a month of it's first recognition as a problem.
Until this corona virus started to infect people and spread rapidly, nobody knew it would be a problem so no solutions were developed.

Interesting reading. I'm in the same boat as some on here, jobbing gardener for last 10 years. Most of my customers are elderly, and most of my gardens I can work in without any contact with customers.
What do I do? Not classed as essential work as far as BoJo is concerned, but a neatly cut lawn/tidy garden good for the for the wellbeing of my customers. Some gardeners are continuing until they are told to stop, some have stopped as we are not on the list of key workers.
                            Doing my head in.
                            Cheers, Malcolm.

The local fencing company was closed when I went passed this morning. I'm off work as my work place has shut down for the foreseeable future. A timber supplier we normally use is also shut down.
