Not done much today but for inspecting seedling and bring back in ensete maurii but done a bit yesterday and over the weekend with the beautiful spring weather. I normally watch the football at weekends so I have loads of time now , I spent about 6-7 hours hand weeding the lawn for rogue grass my knees and back :frown:. any way after that rather boring weeding session I pruned back the last buddelia and cut back hard Cornus elegantissima , give the gooseberry a light trim and removed some of the oldest branches on the currants. Top dressed and feed strawberry troughs .

After removing rogue grass from the lawn I have loads of little patches so an over seed and top dress is due this week and possible a fed. I've got the laurel to top as well and I haven't got round to watching gardeners world yet so I'll do that soon.

Well I thought the internet had gone nuts for plug plants, I was wrong, they have gone bonkers, today we had to shut our online shops down until monday, just to catch up. I wish I had a camera, so I could have taken a picture of the lady in our main post office, her face when I approached with 658 large letter packages to go 1st class, good job they had pre paid postage labels on, because corona virus would have been the least of her worries, especially when I told her it would be a similar amount tomorrow, if you have any spare Tomato or cucumber or courgette plug plants spare, seriously put them on ebay, they will be gone in minutes.

Spent the whole day in the garden again:hapydancsmil:.
Helped hubs chop up the trunk of the big conifer that we cut down last week. Mowed and edged the lawns, took all the over wintering plants out into the sunshine. Planted out some cuttings that I took a couple of years ago, Lavenders and Hebes and what I think is a Lilac ( but could be wrong :heehee:)
After lunch in the garden I then spent the afternoon dividing up the Snowdrops and rehoming various self seeded Primulas.

Feel quite tired now with all this lovely fresh air that we have been able to enjoy for the last few days!

Planting out some more Hellebores tomorrow.:)

@Upsydaisy have you got your carrot seedlings going yet? :heehee:

Okay, I'm being silly but it comes from jealousy because the last of the snow on my garden just melted today!

Do you know I found an open packet of carrot seeds yesterday . I used them with some children that I worked with a couple of years ago, it crossed my mind that I might actually sow some during these days of shortages , not sure if the seeds are too old but yes I might give them ago.:dbgrtmb:

Yesterday I did a little weeding around my wood anemones, and pricked out my chilli seedlings where two plants came up in a mini module. I also sat and broke off the dead flower stems from my lavenders, going back to the first new spring growth. Some of the stems were not cut back fully last year. I now have a lovely silky-smooth lavender plant (“Ooh, Missus!”).

today I will be doing some early veg sowing in a couple of cloches, hopefully I can find some viable lettuce seeds...
What will I be sowing? Half-rows of whatever I have in my seed-box that can go out!!

Yesterday I weeded around the drive edge that touches the lawn on my hands and knees. Just shows that I'm not used to gardening right now as my back almost ceased up - not as young as I used to be :old:

Tidied up a few of the gingers and cannas in the tunnel, trimmed some of the battered palm tree branches.

Second skip of the year arrived this morning. I wouldn't normally have a skip this early in the season but I can see the garden getting a bit more focus right now.

Must admit I'm a bit stiff in my back today too, I've had 5 consecutive days in the garden... must pace ourselves after the winter months of being some what less active. Just having a cuppa in the garden before limbering up to plant the Hellibores!!

Pottered a wee while as the rain has shhhh! paused... Delighted that the forgetmenot I sowed last year that was so pretty has spread and started to flower. Aiming to fill that patch with bright flowering perennials before I get too decrepit to deal with the garden. Hoping the poached egg plant is still there. Weeded a little. More later if the rain holds off. When the large puddles have soaked in and I can walk there... Checked seed trays and the sweet rocket is germinated and showing tiny green shoots. Love that flower.

Not exactly in the garden.... ( my bedroom actually :) )

Potted up 3 pots of Freesias, 1 large pot of Eucomis, 2 large pots of Nerines, 1 large pot of Zantedeschia, 1 pot of Pleione.

That's the table by the window done, next will be the windowsills in the bedroom and kitchen.

Made a raised bed on the grass so now just got to remove the grass and fill it in with last years tomato compost from all the pots mixed with new and douse it with growmore. I'll be growing peas, broad beans for the first time and beetroot which I've never had any luck with.
Then I'll fill the pots with Jacks Magic

Managed to get home from work by 3 which gave me some time in the garden. I cut the grass, laid fertiliser and seeded in parts. I also fed my roses and watered to activate.
