The policeman who live a few doors away has been going to his allotment, and his policewoman partner hasn't stopped him. Where our plots are, Mrs Scrungee and I are now the only tenants and have the place to ourselves, but will feel safer when we get as much as possible moved back home, as we want to devote the vast majoritu of daily quota of 'exercise' trips to dog walking.

Hi @Kevin Cowans , @Upsydaisy , @Perki , and everyone else, hope you are aii well.

Regarding the text messages.... it's been on the news that the Government has been in contact with all mobile providers and everyone who has a mobile phone will get the text sent to them automatically through their service provider.

          Hello @KFF

          Thanks for that.

From what they are saying it looks like they have been testing it as a kind of Emergency Broadcast System which could prove useful.

The thing is, how many people, in the UK, upon seeing a Text from the Government are actually going to read it and not Delete it straight away :)

          Thanks

          Kevin

            Or block them?

I got 6 identical texts on 3 phones and didn't bother reading all of them. Luckily my triple sim phone is an empty spare in my car. Mrs Scrungee only got 2 texts on her phone.

Parents have been posting messages on our village's (closed) facebook group to the effect of 'if you see our children offending/behaving out of order please let me know and we will ground them' , complete with pics.

But about 12 members of 2 households from the family known as 'neighbours from hell' set up camp across a public footoath, blocking it with all their bikes, buggies, etc.

And how can whizzing round the roads on electric scooters be construed as exercise?

Why are the patents letting their children out anyway.
Around here parents are following advice and only letting them out for walks or bike rides etc if they are with them.

This is why the police need to start issuing on the spot fines.

Report them to police if the electric scooters are not road legal

Not always possible, especially with essential worker's children of an age where they can be left alone.

They do sod all in normal times.

I thought they've officially pronounced they're reluctant to do anything, other than give offenders a ticking off?

Had somebody in her 70s who lives in the main road drive here to wash and brush her car out, then walked back home for 30 mins before returning for some more fiddling around before driving back home.

It's hand washing that's important, not cars used once a week.

On the first day of lockdown some people rushed immediately rushed out and fellled protected trees in our Conservation Area.

I think its the oldies around here who are carrying on normally.
Seem to be all going out, mainly in their cars but obviously going somewhere.
I think the thing is to them it's just a normal day.

To those of us who work, and have been stopped, it all seems very different.;)

I feel sorry for those living in flats or people with no gardens, if I did my one daily exercise period would last from 9 am to 5 pm.

I really cannot see the problem with being out, the problem is if you get too close to other people.
Which brings me back to the fact we all live on top of one another these days, all this crammed in housing etc.
The supermarkets are just struggling because of new house building, the doctor surgeries, likewise chemists.

Maybe this will be a wake up call to planners and government.
                  But I doubt it.

Plenty of complaints on the local pages of facebook about people having family get togethers and bbq with loads of visitors. These are the people where it won't register as a threat until people in the household are dead or dying. They think it happens to other people...

                      Quite a normal response.

"It will never happen to me."

Lets face it, its what keeps things going, if we all wandered around thinking we were going to die tomorrow in a road crash nobody would drive, if every soldier thought he was going to get shot dead he wouldn't join up, the list goes on, if every NHS worker thought they were going to get it and die there would be a lot less of them.

Human nature is strange but as you say, until it happens to you, in most cases, people dont get it.
