We shall do it - but no point in opening a door or window to do so. nobody could possibly hear us but it's the thought that counts. :blue thumb:

We went for our morning walk today and would have had great trouble trying not to distance ourselves. In the mile to the village (and back) there was nobody in sight. Walking through the village there was one couple tending their front garden and tow couples walking with dogs and children. The nearest one was at least fifty yards away.

As I passed the village shop (co-op) the doors were open and just one customer in there. They had warning tape stuck to the floor every two metres. I grabbed a pack of chicken thighs and placed it by the till whilst the person behind it stepped back. I then stepped back and they processed it and I paid by card on the machine right on the front. I then passed the bakers (sign on door saying payment by card only), nobody in there apart from two staff, bought a loaf and their card machine had been placed on a table in front of the counter.

Both shops said they have purchasing restrictions on quantities and they had been reasonably busy. I thanked all of them for coming into work.

The only time I got anywhere near being as close as two metres was in the shops.

I suppose that is one advantage of being in the country/village. It seemed funny not to have the usual stream of vehicles on the road.

The main road running through the village is almost deserted. Very, very quiet with virtually no road noise, which makes the sound of ambulances regularly going through very noticeable. Far too many for with so few people about, and too many for the amount of reported cases in this area, so I reasure myself by thinking the local hospital's ICU has empty beds and cases are being diverted from areas where they're overloaded.

Discovered 15 x 50L bags of MPC in one of my polytunnels at the plot, bringing my total up to nearly 2,000L.

And mentioning polytunnels, looking on ebay a day or so ago, I noticed one major supplier of 'allotment' tunnels was sold out, and others had increased prices by 50% more than they were a short while ago.

Also been notified CV19 scams are increasing, for example:

I've got a list of jobs I need to do around the house and garden.
Trouble is I cant buy anything and my tools are all back at the workshop.

I can see this becoming pretty frustrating, along with people being stuck, like me in their houses.
Most people around here just want to work.

Some of the "music", I use the word loosely, around the area is starting to get on my wick.

If it goes on too long there will be fighting in the streets.:frown:

I've noticed that as well. The cheapo poly tunnel I bought just before the outbreak has gone up £40. Profiteering perhaps - or simply the start of the growing season?

Probably a bit of both, the usual increased demand at this time of year together with loads more people wanting to grow their own stuff [1] plus they're made in China and stocks must be getting very low.

[1] And keep their own hens, etc., read that point of lay hens are selling out so made sure our girls have got enough layers pellets to see them through this crisis.

Took the kids out for a short walk and only a few others about doing the same. I thought the sky looked odd then realised there wasn't a single plane or contrail in the sky! Weirdly quiet too.

Our ambulances only use their sirens if there is a complete block of traffic impeding their progress and then it is really to notify everyone to stay put whilst they use shoulders or whatever get by. Don't hear them often.

I live in the province of Ontario and our premier just made it law that gougers will go to jail and get hefty fines - anywhere between $50K and a million dollars.

Petrol is now at about 45p per liter. :) Gas is cheap for just driving around but there's no place to really visit as all of the provincial parks have been closed because of the stupid people mobbing them.

Yes @ARMANDII is correct @Upsydaisy they are the people who jack up the prices to take advantage of a crisis or shortage. Supply and demand gone greedy beyond reason.

I imagine there will be a snitch line set up. Sad it has to come to this.

Just seen the Clap the NHS on the news. Great idea, we will be doing it and I'll see if I can muster up my ear piercing 4 finger whistle

Just seen it on the news, one person sitting on a seat in the park being hassled by two coppers, the coppers were making it illegal, until they turned up it was just one person.

Someone else having a smoke on a seat, probably living in a poky flat, then some homeless, that kind of put them on the back foot when they told them to go home.

Yeah pick on those that wont fight back.
