I'm sorry to hear your hardware shops are closed. Ours are open because it is felt that if you have a pipe burst or some other calamity, it would be ridiculous to stop you from getting what you need.

Music? It could be worse, my neighbours would really hate it if I started singing!

Our hardware shops are classed as essential, most are open for business online, if not also instore, allthough personally I'd prefer them to give their staff the chance to stay at home and isolate, whilst still providing a home delivery option.

Our road is like normal, but the back ground road noise from other roads are quiet, work around here is going like normal days

I read something last night that made me giggle with reference to the Dyson ventilator - anyone on it would only be able to breathe in (think of a gale force wind snatching your breath and you will get the drift of it) :heehee:

Just witnessed a marvelous sound...in the quiet stillness was an explosion of applause and 'whooping' for our great and good NHS...shame it's taken this pandemic for folk to come together.

Best I dont put my other thoughts on a lot of this virus stuff without a tin hat and sitting in an armoured car

That aside I respect the nurses but not the higher nursing management.

MPs should be made sit at home manning their telephones to help constituents in getting the claims put through for loss of income.

Sky call centres are classed as `essential` and employees even those at high risk are having to come in or not be paid after their 2 weeks isolation are up. The centre is only taking calls for sky TV, not essential in my opinion but getting away with it as communications, Their job can be done from home.

Also in events like this we find who are really important to society, shop workers for one and they are one of the lowest paid and generally looked upon as the bottom of the pile. Time they were paid a decent wage.

Now that you mention it, I don't remember hearing kids whistle for a long time.

I don't whistle - a habit as an ex-navy man as it was 'unlucky' :noidea:

I have to disagree with you saying that TV is not essential. This is a lifeline for many people. It's how they get all their news and information as well as it stops them getting too lonely.

Disagreeing with you. I ditched TV decades ago and all the better for it. We had radio before that ( I am nearly 80) and that was grand. TV stops you thinking which is bad for you. Goggle box mentality. Glued to the set.. ugh.. Increases loneliness as it cuts you off from the real world and from other people.

@KFF I may be mistaken but I read that post slightly differently to you. I read it that Sky TV is not essential and not that TV is not essential :noidea: :)
