Looking at that beak, @shiney, I would say it’s a female bullfinch. That’s a cracking beak, not an insect-finding one!

 

Not sure yet. Am not well these days and my early walk has fulfilled but drained me so back abed and preparing to snooze, or , rather lapse into an unconscious state.. Back later or more likely tomorrow... stay safe out there.

Yesterday planted 4 pots of hyacinths in the border, replaced some of the polyanthus that wasn't doing very well. Had to water the polyanthus that grows along
the side of the path, they get dry easily there.

Had a email from one of the local gc saying that they'll be taking orders over the phone it will be free delivery but it's got to be £30. or over can do that easily this time of year.

Yesterday was less productive - shopping and other chores took up a lot of the day.

Moved a lot of new Ensete ventricosum into the tunnel which gave me space to move the chilli seedlings onto the improvised staging (air hockey table).

Had a shuffle round in the tunnel which gave me more prop. space. Sowed my Aubergine Long purple, Coleus - masterblends rainbow, kong mosaic and black dragon.

Today I am sorting a few work tasks out before motivating myself to scarify the lawns

I thought it was still a bit early. So if I sow them in about 2 weeks time it should be ok.

 

Got home in the nick of time today, my dear wife forgot to open the greenhouse door, it got up to 53 c at some point, taken my droopy alliums out and given them a good water, 4 out of 6 fritillaria have popped up(crikey don't they stink) so I'm pleased with that, my order of gravel and JI no3 has arrived thankfully, looks like no work now until the end of May so hoping the sunny weather continues and may even get time to start cutting the pergola tops
