I use the plastic trays the chicken portions for the cats come in; punch holes in the bottom. Two a week come so no shortage of supply. May try Land Cress etc and certainly more Russian and other kale AND lots of peas.

I feel sorry for you @KFF having such horrible problems with mobility. I think I am a little older than you and your post made me feel grateful for my good health.

@pete was referring to people who are emotionally unable to deal with this pandemic. Yes, they physically could drive but no, they are too frightened.

I used click and collect once because I was having trouble getting the shop to stock their store brand of a product I usually buy. I usually shop at the store and pick up my groceries though as I have 3 vehicles just sitting around my driveway and also another in the garage and am able to do motor out whenever the mood hits me. If I was in your position, I would have one of my vehicles outfitted with handicap aids such as hand controls for excelerating or braking. And then if I had an elderly parent still alive, I could help them too :)

On a positive shopping note, as the usual cupboard staples are hard to get we have found some new favourites. Puff pastry is sold out, but filo is available, coinciding with GoodFood excellent recipes for leek and artichoke pie and baklava recipes. Our kitchen floor has never been as sticky as after the baklava, (well, not counting crushing boiled sweets to make gingerbread house windows, a long, sticky story :heehee: ) but boy is it good!

We are using a lot of cabbage and root veg at the moment, Celeriac is brilliant in mashes and soups. Who needs pasta? Small supplier meats and cheeses may be a bit expensive, but definitely worth a try. Exotic food is worth investigating.

The only cupboard items I object to are the Teenager foods now that she is the dedicated lunch chef. I firmly refuse to eat anything with seaweed, avocados or chia seeds any more. We are having home made pizza tonight with triple chorizo.

I didn't say that, you asked why people with cars were ordering on line, I just came up with my version of why that might be happening.

And they might be self isolating, ordering for the elderly or vulnerable further away whom they can't help directly, or just doing their bit to reduce social interactions. Or simply scared.

These are strange times, and we all react differently in a stressful situation. We'll be fine, and get back to normal. I think it's important not to fuel negativity or judgement. Some people do make stupid choices but this is not the time to start reacting to them too much. Let's just keep plodding on.

I also wonder how when you order online the supermarket concerned is expected to vet everyone and work out who are those in most need?
I dont think it's something you can expect them to do.

Personally I could understand it if regular customers were first in the queue, as if I had been a regular and now find I cant get a delivery I'd not be pleased.

3 years now and I cannot get a delivery slot and I am not pleased ;) but I have written a letter to the CEO of Tescos informing him that when this is all over I shall be getting my own shopping at the store:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I’m a self isolater with the wife both of us retirement age, we both have health conditions like diabetes, arterial fibrillation and asbestosis. Our daughter is looking after us and 4 others as well as her 2 young children , what makes it worse for us is my wife has come down with cellulites on her face making it swollen.
I happened last week on a spare Asda slot being delivered tomorrow I hope, next week is a bit hit and missed as I lost a slot I found last night 2.30am as I fell asleep before it expired
So getting to the shops is a car duty for us wherever it may be, we live in a cul-de-sac where all are elderly and I have seen 1 supermarket delivery so how fearful of getting food they must be I can’t know, their computer knowledge must be against them navigating round a shops website.
So how this will all pan out is anybody’s guess, my guess is it’s not looking good for us and elsewhere, will we be a closer society I doubt it as no one will want to be near people or crowds in the future

there is a page on gov.uk website that you can use to try and get shopping slots not advertised depending on your health, not sure the location of the page but you have to include your health number, it’s aimed at all those who got sent an email last week.

On Asda you can pay for a reoccurring slot monthly, not sure if these are being honoured does anyone know

Let me make it crystal clear for you then, I have health issues which make me classed as vulnerable, and have prevented me from working for the last 20 years, but I don't bang on about it, and make the best of it, so I'm doing my best to avoid traipsing around shops at the moment. I'm also probably older than you.

Is that clear enough for you?

@KFF Pick on someone else if that's what you're into.

I think it is. My cousin said yesterday that she is still receiving her regular fortnightly deliveries.

                                Brutal.....
