Got a message from a mate this morning who works for a joinery company.
As of today he is unemployed, his company has folded and he won't be getting any wages.

                First of many I'm guessing.

Really hits home when you hear these things. The saddest part is that a lot of people never fully recover from this kind of hardship.

Both of my daughters in law have been out of work for the past four weeks and it makes things difficult for their families. One son works in the trucking industry and the other works in a pharmaceutical logistics facility so they still have their jobs and probably won't be laid off. :fingers crossed:

Well I been out to work this week doing part days keeping a distance and wearing gloves , Everyone been happy to see me so far and told be to carry on while I can. Brews are a problem I love a cup of tea and biscuits and been unfortunately having to say no  except for one gentleman which wouldn't take no thanks for an answer :coffee: .

I don't think the self employed package isn't much use for mainly Seasonally workers ( + zero hour ) most earning for me are from late March till late October. I am not sure you would be able to claim X amount for march till October, sound more like it be spread over a year. I don't think its much use for the Horticulture sector at all, by time its all over and done with to many will have gone bust.

How have you been going on @Liz the pot ?

I went to Sainsbury's at 7.45 a.m. (first time to a big supermarket in almost three weeks, whereas I'm usually there twice a week) and got in the queue with all the other wrinklies. The queue was right round the car park but we were all keeping at least three metres apart. At 8 a.m. they opened the doors and let quite a few through. Then they were letting some in every so often and I was inside within 15 minutes. They had security at the doors and the doors were barriered off so there was a separate in and out. The store was fairly well stocked - they even had toilet paper, chicken and eggs but almost no pasta.

I don't know whether they had a limit on how many of each item you could have as I didn't take multiples.

We booked an Asda online slot two weeks ago for tomorrow, I wonder if we will get half the items we have ordered, I'll let you know.

I seem to be the designated booze runner for my friends.

I went to the LCBO Liquor Control Board of Ontario store yesterday for a friend to pick up his Crown Royal. Had to wait outside for about 20 minutes. One person leaves, security lets another in. Everybody keeping 2 meters apart in the line up. Except the guy behind me. That is until I accidently jammed my heel down on his toe..

Today, I went to the Beer Store for another buddy and picked up the suds. I was the only one there and their point of sale system was completely down so one fellow had to shout the price from the rack to the cashier and she tried to manually add up the total for me to pay cash. I added it up, gave her the cash and left. Still no one else around. Guess no one carries cash anymore. I was prepared to use my tap/debit but since the system was down, I was glad I also had cash on me.

We've not got 2,392 confirmed cases here in Ontario and 39 deaths. Sad.
