What Jobs Are We Doing In The Garden Today 2020

Still potting up as things sprout...more Zinnias today The bags are all checked daily and 'sprouts' are planted up as quickly as possible.

 

Been repotting a lot of my veggie plants and moving some from my Sittootery to Big School.Some of my veggies.

Have you took the Hayter out for a mow yet @shiney ? I am surprised they didn't leave the pull start on the mower still tight sods. I don't know about the domestic version but the Pro Hayter are really fast like you are running after them, you can buy a restricter kit to slow it down obviously at a cost .

In case relevant, my old email address, associated with my old, dormant, not used for years, account became inaccessible (Freeserve bought by Wanadoo, then Orange, then Virgin and finally bought by T-mobile who became EE and decided the best thing to do was to shut it down with a couple of months notice ... thereby weeing off thousands of people ... and preventing doing a "lost password" on any of the sites where I registered with a Freeserve address and not remembered / got around to changing it in that short window.)

Anyway, ADMINs here kindly changed the Email address on my old account to my new Email address. I then did a "lost password", got the "change your password" email, and I'm back on the old account.

I'm never using EE, repeated fraudsters Sharkleys or lying cheating DieselGate VW ever again in my life ... but I am reminded that my parents used the local Plumber and Sparky when they bought their house, when they let them down they used the ones a bit further away ... rinse and repeat ... several decades later they were back to using the first ones again, having run out of alternatives!

 

Mine have already flowered and gone over.

 

As it happens I never used Photobucket, but happy to add them to my list of never-ever ...

I put my Photo's on my Blog, and link to them there (to not add to GC costs for hosting bulky images)

I'm busy for similar reasons to FC ... building APPs like a Paris Fashion House to accommodate everyone now working from home ...

Tried to pay everyone something to cover their home working costs (central heating on all day compared to when at work, and they don't get free coffee at home either ). Max permitted is about 6-quid a week apparently, which is the best part of sod-all.

We took all the employees out last year for a Thank You jolly. Tax Man said "thank you" too ... had to pay benefit in kind tax on all the income tax HMRC lost compared to employees paying themselves out of after-tax income, and also were not allowed to claim the VAT either ... the tax was more than the cost of the shindig :( ...

Hardware store is still open so popped in yesterday for some cleaning products ( they stock Astonish, which I like as cruelty free ). Also bought two Lavenders, two Borage, a Thyme and a Tomatoe plant.

Spent the afternoon pottering around, cutting back Ferns, pruned a Hydrangea, pulled weeds/couch grass out of the baths and a few pots, watered a couple of dry looking pots, cleaned out the storage bin where the zero chairs are stored and discovered 'mousey' has had a nibble on both chairs. Put buns into runs and sat on patio watching them and listening to the Sparrows in the hedge chattering away very loudly, trying to impress the girls. Which changed to screams of terror when the Sparrowhawk arrived . It flew off as soon as I leapt up and didn't come back.

Later on I bailed out the septic tank again. Twice a day, three if I want to use the washing machine. This is definitely getting a bit ' quaint ' now. Have to dip a small bucket on a string into the tank several times to fill it and transfer to a larger bucket and then carry across the garden to the soakaway to empty. The water in the tank has become contaminated due to level going over the outflow, so worried that I might have to have a new soakaway too. No idea when Hefin Thomas will be able to come and sort it out and install new pipes.

Sorry to hear that. Pity you can't put that nutrient rich material to better use ... Would a small submersible pump and a length of "corrugated hose" be any use?

No end of consequences that I become aware of day to day ...

 

Didn’t do a lot of gardening yesterday as it was my bday and I just mooched about, watching the birds etc. But I did get a great prezzie from mr snorks....a new kaffir lime tree! Even though our thailand holiday (which we were supposed to be going on next Friday) has been cancelled, I can have a go at making decent curries!

 

Looks great..I thought 'wow! that's got some big fruit on it for it's size,then realised it was the tag!!.
