@wiseowl the virus particulants for seconds. can float in the air and if you are not that far apart, you can literally walk right into them if the guy in front of you sneezes and you are on his heels.

The Trump has blocked 3m from exporting any face masks or products to Canada. Now, 3m uses our wood pulp to produce those things so what the heck is the matter with that man!

I have face masks to make this morning. Up until now, I just hold my breath when I'm unable to distance as far as I think is right. Luckily those are short moments as I can't hold my breath for very long!

Not allowed to comment on Trump, it upsets people :) [tongue in cheek emoji, if there was one]

I think I read that the US also uses a lot of Canadian health care staff including nurses so it seems a bit of an odd decision.

The US does seem to have a relatively low mortality rate if I'm looking at the figures correctly; considering the number of cases, and the rate of new cases, I don't understand it.

I think we use a lot of Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, Fillapino etc.
          In our hospitals, nothing new.

Yes, there are lots of nurses who live in border towns such as Windsor and Niagara Falls in Ontario, who daily cross over to work in their hospitals. Rather a nasty turn considering we've always been there for them. When 911 happened, we sent thousands of rescue workers down there. When Katrina wrecked New Orleans and when New York was flooding, we sent aid workers who were skilled professionals in restoring electric power to those places that were without. We sent them down to Texas when they had massive flooding and power outages.

Certainly not a very neighbourly response.

And @Loofah I CAN talk about Trump () because he has tried to be a human wrecking ball against my country every chance he gets. He was talking about putting armed forces on the 3,000 miles of our borders as though we were going to invade their inferior health care facilities during this pandemic. The man is an ass. ! Luckily 95% of the people down there are not like him. He probably got in and will most likely get back in because of his protectionist policies.

And I would NOT trust Trump's numbers any more than I would China's. Don't forget there are a lot of people who don't have a doctor down there so they cannot be diagnosed. If anyone came to Canada and had a visa to go across the border with me, I would be able to show them just how bad it is for those have nots. Big contrast to the gated communities or rural communities you see on TV or hear from in gardening forums.

Hey @Loofah we didn't even get a mention there … I know our population is small compared to the size of our country but Toronto (about 35 miles from me) has measurable sickness. :noidea:

Lots of kids visiting parents around here, don't think many are actually going places but they are doing what they have always done, getting on with things.
Understand the government have totally no idea how long they intend to impose this on the population and might think about working out an exit strategy next week. :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Sorry Pete, it wasn't clear - this was related to potential retaliatory action from Canada due to Trump withholding face masks. It's a dumb move as Canada could withhold workers helping the US and therefore hurt the US more in this particular instance should Trudeau decide to. Nothing to do with the broader use of international workers.

Well the face mask issue has reared its head here also, I think for the mean time it was suggested not to make it an issue for public use because it would take masks away from NHS workers.
I believe it has been decided that people should wear masks in the US.
Which is why there will be a shortage and export to Canada has been stopped.
Trump was actually against the use of masks for the general public.

So, of the 41,000 cases in the UK 135 have recovered and 4,300 have died.
Are the rest in suspended animation?
Don't think the figures are worth looking at to be honest.

I’ve had to have a few choice words with my neighbour as I found their kids running all over my property and were right by my back gate and just about to put an arm under the gate as they could see my dog who was going bananas.
They went out for a picnic yesterday. Oh boy perhaps I should have just turned a blind eye but I’m in the wrong if my dog takes offence. Children are aged 5 and 6.

They should be self-isolated, if not in Hospital. Hopefully they are not out wandering around giving the virus to more folk ... but I doubt seriously that!

I don't think they know how many have got it or had it, how can they?
No testing going on just go indoors and hide.
I doubt anyone feeling ill will be going sunbathing.
They have put it around that you are infectious before you show symptoms.
Yeah sounds a very convenient way of getting everyone off the street.

I thought it was spread by coughing etc.
Which to me is a symptom.
