It's rained all day today - well if you can call it rain. It's drizzled enough to soak me but not the garden. The wind has finally dropped too. 10C/50F

Almost summer today, hazy sun all day, no wind and I recorded 23.9C
Warmest day here so far this year, even if the temperature is not official.

They said it would hit 23C down here in the South @Sheal, and I think it did in my Dad's garden. I couldn't do much out there apart from some watering as I forgot my sunblock.

I only take the temperature in one place, the sensor is on a north facing concrete shed wall, only ever gets sun on it after 7pm in mid summer for an hour or so.

              The high was around 3.30pm.

By never moving the sensor I always know I'm working from the same point if you see what I mean.

As I say, not likely to be considered an official type reading but the closest I can get without too much hassle.

The temperature was quite high then Pete considering the sensor is facing north. :blue thumb:

I'd never put a thermometer in the sun, because there is no point.

What you are looking for is the air temperature.

In the sun you are just recording radiated heat from the sun, which will always be higher and misleading.

Hazy skies with the Sun shining through in the morning but by the middle of the afternoon more thick cloud arrived but that didn't stop the temperature getting to 67f, which is not bad for early April. We've not had any substantial rain for weeks now so I'm watering the garden and lawn, using a hose, in the early evening which stops any newly planted Hardy Perennials from drying out. Right now the temperature is 50f and the pressure reading is 1015hpa.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Yesterday was also our hottest day where it reached 76.8F.

Our thermometer is also in permanent shade under the porch of the summerhouse - at the height of 5ft to the left of the doors when facing it and is West facing. That part of the garden is always hotter than the rest as it is sheltered from the wind by trees and buildings so can build up heat if there is little air movement. The open area of garden in front of it is about 60ft x 60ft and I don't know if all that qualifies as a proper reading.
