I don't think so. There is some growing in a different part of the garden but it's not in flower yet. I will have a look tomorrow anyway. The smell is still here but fainter today as cooler and more cloud cover.

Spent an hour and a half digging more buttercup and couch grass out of my flower bed :phew:. There are still tiny bits of roots left in the soil, which I will have another go at tomorrow, but probably won't be able to get them all.

Mr Chaffinch is still around, working on how many decibels he can assault my ears with. Every time I sit on the patio he appears on either the wall or the hedge.

There are usually four males and three females. I haven't seen the others for awhile so I'm guessing he's going to be unlucky in love :dunno: but you never know. He's a very handsome chap :wub2: even if he is so loud.

Have you tried offering sunflower hearts and niger seed?

I don't use niger any more, but always use sunflower hearts, I think it's more the general decline of both of them, fortunately still have loads of other birds around.

We have lots of that version but also have some white (quite good) and my favourite variegated white which is a brilliant contrast. It's nowhere near as vigorous or rampant as the purple.

Busy day yesterday, planted out a few hardy plants that I grew last year from seed.

Carried on preparing and in some cases planting up some of our patio pots .

Checked over all the strawberry plants that I had put in one of our cold frames..might pot them up again in some hanging baskets like I did last year , it definitely stopped them from being 'got at':blue thumb:

Lettuce and tomatoes are all coming on well.

Gave all the plants and seedlings in the greenhouse and cold frames a watering

Potted on all the Cosmos, and Petunias

........ and watered the garden in the evening.

The temperature was only 52f and with a breeze that made it feel colder I put a body warmer on as well as my mucky gardening clothes. Armed with a roll of string and a pair of scissors i retreated down the Arbour where the climbing rose "Alchemist" was badly in need of being tied down and new stems trained into the proper directions. There's also around 8 Honeysuckle with 4 on either side of the Arbour which have run riot climbing into the inside and up into the roof so they had to be either cut back or tied towards the opening of the Arbour. I soon found out that the rose "Alchemist" had more thorns than I thought it had:gaah:, so there was a lot of swearing:hate-shocked:, with luckily no one around, as I tied the new stems back into the right place.
I refilled the pond again just to keep it at a good level and the water is crystal clear and has been ever since I dug the pond back in '93. The only time the water turns a muddy brown is when I take my annual wade in Chest Waders into the pond. I am tempted to have a wade sometime this week just to tidy the banks up. so maybe on Friday if, as forecast, the weather gets warmer:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Started the day off doing some pricking out, then started on the concrete plinths to bolt the post supports to, and just finished putting all the tenders back in the greenhouse with a frost forecast for tonight. 20200413_144758.jpg
