    :goodpost:

Brilliant video @Sheal even if it was a relatively slow lap. Despite him constantly over-revving coming down the mountain! The course has changed a little over the years...still brought back memories though!

    Thanks for posting!

Great video Sheal, that really woke me up this morning :dbgrtmb:
I went to the TT races in 2002. Always remember the hairpin at Ramsey, just before they go to the mountain stage, great fun watching them negotiate that. My favourite was the sidecars most were 100% racing, some were just having a day out and waving at the crowds as they went by :)

      You're welcome Sandy.

I'll have to watch it again to pick up on the over-revving. When I watched it yesterday before posting my sound was off due to Mr S. dozing in the armchair beside me. It's not quite the same without sound.

Yes, the course has changed a bit. I think the most recent was the stretch from Creg-Ny-Baa down to Sign Post Corner. The road was re-aligned and widened a number of years ago.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Harry. :)

Talking of the sidecars....they were the only bikes racing that I could actually get shots of, even with my camera repeat firing.

That was good to watch @Sandy Ground. It's a shame that Guy has never gained a TT win.

I thought that it was worth posting this photo. Its of a gentleman that is very much in the news today. Captain Tom Moore. The very same one that has raised so much money by walking in his garden. Even if many know of his exploits today, many dont know that he was an avid motorcycle racer. He has so much respect even today, that the Army still use the number on his bike (23) even today. tom moore.jpg

What year was that Sandy? '3' was Joey's number from 1980 but I don't recognise the bike or what I can see of the face.

@Sheal I'm not exactly sure which year the photo was taken, but probably '82 or '83. The second rider in the group (#10) is Mick Grant. The third (#7) is Barry Sheene.

@Sandy Ground, according to the internet Barry Sheene raced only once at TT and that was in 1971.

@Sheal the photo wasnt taken on the island. If you look carefully at the sponsors name on the lead bike, you'll see it reads Majestic Aluminium. That sponsorship only started about 1980. I only got hold of the photo the day it was posted.

My apologies, I was assuming it was on the island. The only things I can read are the numbers and Shell, the rest is just a blur to me unfortunately.

@Sheal no need to apologise. The photo was taken at Olivers Mount (Scarborough). I did think it was, but needed to check.

The Isle of Man T.T. is back on now after a two year absence. This coming week is practice, the following week is racing. The local ferry company, the Isle of Man Steampacket, says booking numbers are for 11,000 bikes and 30,000 visitors. This doesn't include visitors using other means of transport. All these crammed onto an island just 38 miles long and 13 miles wide with its own population of 86,000.

                          1.jpg

It's probably the only place in Britain where you will find main roads pothole free. :) Oh, and Douglas it's capital has just become a city.
