@joolz68 They are normally resident in an area so they should be seen almost all year round although not so noticeable if not in breeding plumage as your one is. if you do see any young, they are dark brown/black and white and known as 'humbugs'.

The camera shows that we have regular nightly visitors. We put a small piece of meat out for the fox and much to my surprise a deer ate the meat. I thought they are vegetarians, but I guess there is an exception in every family. red fox.JPG

Pied Wagtails, frequent visitors every day.

Our only Chaffinch, not seen a female for weeks.
This pic clearly shows the debilitating 'scaly or Tassel foot' disease common in Chaffinches (but can affect all Finches) making gripping anything difficult and in extreme cases causes lameness.

This is so good. Gardeners also having other wildlife as an interest.

Please in no way wishing to offend or whatever. I know of many world-known experts who set out on perhaps a gardening career, then finding themselves greatly involved in other areas of science. Remember black and white Tele? The wild fowl trust and Peter Scott.

Peter, Sir Peter was the son of that great explorer. Who has added to our history and natural history so, so much. Peter was such a gentle and kindly mannered person. Alway softly spoken. He always had time for everyone. Sadly another great loss to us.

Perhaps to some members it may seem a litlle unusual to hop from one natural history thingy to another. In short. My TV character, the Meercat will answer. Simples. All the subjects are interrelated. 'Steady on Sergie. interrelated is a big word for even you.

However it is true. So my Dear forum friend from down south. Please continue to share your pic and knoweledge with us up norf.
