Having got myself in a mess on a thread a couple of weeks ago I thought I'd recap on our posts @luciusmaximus. :) I only mentioned one soakaway and that's all I have. I have three septic tanks, one for solids the other two for liquids. A pump moves the liquids from the solids tank to the liquid tanks and they disperse into the soakaway.

You would have thought by now in the 21st century that all drainage and sewerage would be piped.

I have friends in Doncaster and despite the fact they live just about a hundred yards from the sewerage works, they still use septic tanks.

Also my eldest daughter Kerry, living in the New Forest is one of four council homes. The tank is in her garden, which is constantly being dug up because others are puting everything down the loo.

Mike it wouldn't wouldn't be worth the cost to lay pipes to an area like mine, it's fully rural. It's actually cheaper for me to have septic tanks. :)

Today began bright and sunny. Then it turned grey and gentle rain. I managed to get out into the GH for a couple of hours. Times past and I would have got a lot of work done. Now I realise how much I have slowed down. It's difficult finding space to stand as there are many large pots on the floor. Even with dull skies and drizzle the roof vents were open and it was quite pleasant. Seeds are germinating nearly the next day following sowing. Several varieties of Dahlias are large enough to pot-up. Ten week stocks are up also Nasturtiums plus many others. A forum friend provided me with some Bearded Iris rhizomes, these are doing great and at leat two have flower buds already. I did earlier on buy several Iris bulbs from Parkers. Great germination and many showing flower buds, sadly they have grown so fast that I have had to use split canes to support them.

I saved my Begonia semperflorens comprising green and bronze leaved, and pink and white flowers. These plants are four years old now, usually they are treated as annuals. In the past I have allowed some plants to self seed onto the soil stagging, this over the years has kept me with a constant supply of fresh seedlings. I simply divided suitable plants, trimmed and re-potted others and used the cut down growth as cuttings. Hopefully, tomorrow I will sow more seeds and as I have so many Polyanthus and Violas / Pnsies. I will start to seperate the flowers. This will enable me later to store, take cuttings and save seed

Yes of course. Probably most of us tend to overlook the general conditions our friends live under.
For me. I've live in this council property for some 60 yrs. Water rates/charges and sewerage have meant a smal addition to the rent. This year the council have given over the charges to Thames Water. This has meant, Thames Water installing water meters to every dwelling. This month, April will be my first month having to pay Thames Water. I have been granted 50% discount. This works out at about 13.50 per month. I have no qualms about this. OK when parts of London get flodded due to burst pies etc. Yes I have a gripe, but I go with the flow. (Pun)

I have to say. I have now't but praise for my local council The Royal Borough of Greenwich and the supporting ancillaries.

We have 6 Azaleas in our garden of various sizes. Two began to look quite sad last year and were definitely not thriving, so we cut them back quite drastically and moved them to a new area. If you do decide to put yours in the border @Clueless in Cumbria it's a good idea to add a good amount of Ericaceous compost to the planting hole, this is what we did and, although they are quite small at the moment, the two poorly ones from last year are now looking stronger with lots of blooms.:dbgrtmb:

ah that has given me flash backs to when I was auditing around London and I used to go to a mental health hospital/secure unit in Greenwich. The parking around the area was so difficult. I have some rather amusing stories from my visits to the secure units. On one occasion my pen was stolen and the thief put it in his pants. Needless to say, I never got the pen back.

Today I am feeling utterly poop with this shingles. On top of it, they’re still putting the fibre optic internet cables in around our house and the machinery is constantly making the house vibrate-it is so loud. That on top of the headache, feeling sick and being really tired. I wish I could go outside and do some gardening. Yesterday i soaked some more jiffy cells so I’ve just managed to sow some dahliah Bishops Children seeds. I’ll sow some other seeds in a bit, when I feel well enough. I hope I’m not going to feel like this for the next two weeks. You guys will be sick of me moaning :heehee:

He’s only director by default...he had to be initially as he was one of the developers. He’s an utter pig. And totally agree-small willy! Lol. And got small man syndrome. He is also a coward. How his awful girlfriend can get into bed with him I dont know :censored: LOL. I guess they’re made for each other. BLURRGH! anyway, nuff of that.

Today were hoping to hear whether they get their aircon unit approved by planning or not. I hope its rejected and they have to take it down. Pigs-putting it right opposite our bedroom window.

                          Hello all

I hope you are all well.

Well, I took a break from procrastinating today and have setup the support wires for some of the young climbers, Clematis 'Montana', Honeysuckle 'Gold flame' and Ceanothus (not sure what it is but it is an evergreen).

I have only put up three horizontals at 12" apart for now, I can always add more rows when required.

I have also not attached Vine Eyes to the fences, instead I have used Brackets that attach to the concrete posts, this way it will be easier to maintain the fences, more expensive, but easier.

I have done the left and bottom areas, I just need to do the right which has a Clematis 'Rouge Cardinal', Clematis 'Nelly Moser' and a Pyracantha but that will have to wait for a while, it is also the neighbours fence so hopefully they do not complain.

After setting up the wires I trained the Honeysuckle 'Gold Flame', Clematis 'Montana' and the Ceanothus, they are all only small at the moment, approximately 1m, but hopefully now that they have got supports in place they will start to grow, hopefully :)

                          Thanks

                          Kevin
