Bank Holiday on Friday 8th May

Good afternoon I have just noticed that the May bank holiday has been moved from tomorrow to Friday 8th to coincide with VE day(75 years),just thought I would post this but I'm probably the only one who didn't know this

 

I admit that I did know, mostly because of work, but I think for most of us it will be another day where we can get stuff done around the house and garden.

 

No chance of a street party then maybe we could have a VV day later on (Victory over the Virus day)

 

We're installing a radiator into the front porch....

 

We just have to hope that the plan works out - not least as I need to get the four lengths of copper pipe out of the car.

 

It is more of a recovery from last winter for us @pete - our porch has never been great in terms of condensation, mostly because it is unheated. I bought a convector heater and ran it on and off throughout the winter along with using a couple of those Unibond Aero 360 moisture absorbers and that did help a bit, but the damp and the mould was horrendous; we ended up having to destroy a sideboard that was in there as it seemed to soak some of the damp in and the back of it was mouldy (it is in the back garden currently awaiting being burnt when we are allowed to play with matches again), and then of course there is the cost of paint and so on that gets damaged by the damp.

The electric heater was costing £40 or so a month at one point and that was only being on the odd night, whereas the cost of everything to plumb a small radiator that is on whenever our heating is on in the rest of the house is just under £100. I've probably saved a good chunk of that in diesel by not driving to work this past month, and we have a refrigeration engineer (amongst other strings on his bow) in the family who is furloughed and bored. We needed to repair a leaking radiator valve in our bedroom anyway, so whilst we have lockdown the truth of the matter is that he is helping his disabled and vulnerable (letter to prove it) son in law, and we are just taking the opportunity to resolve all the issues at the same time.

 

Can't you claim it was spontaneous combustion?

Or you could make an emergency journey to help two at risk wrinklies and just happen to have the cupboard in the car at the same time. It could then accidentally fall onto our bonfire.

 

Sadly, I have a saloon, so not a hope of it falling onto your bonfire - - we will just leave it stacked to one side and then burn it once things return to normal
