Brought all my plants out for hardening and back.
The 20 or so in the house area bit of pain, because I need to bring them down pretty narrow stairs, 2 o 3 at times to avoid damaging them.
But then I look at Shiney's 7 million plants or so to move every day. That would probably take me all day and then some, at my sluggish speed.

And speaking of slugs and similar, my sealed mini greenhouses seem to keep slugs out, but I found some tiny snails in one, taking tiny munches off my plant. I wonder if perhaps there were eggs left in some crevices. Or perhaps they manage to come in when they are tiny and then grow.. Anyway, I gave them the boot and sealed it all back.

Most plants seem to have taken well to the trip outdoor, despite a strong wind.
But looking at the forecast, temperatures will go up, peaking at 23C next Saturday, and then they are supposed to suddendly drop 13 degrees??
I do not think my tomatoes will like 3C at night at all.
But I need to plant them out, they are getting enormous and flowering already.
I guess I will cover them up at night when it drops too much.
Also, I splurged on nematodes for the slugs, I hope that will give my courgettes, squashes and punpkins an headstart at least.

Not sure if anybody here shops at Lidl, and I never tried thair compost, but they were selling 40 liters bags for £2. Also some small fruit trees for little money, tomato wire and little clamps.

      Are they fruiting already?
Mine are growing but I never see any berries until July or later.

A lot of little jobs today after sitting on the Patio in front of the pots of Bearded Iris and finishing the cataloguing of the Iris. So I planted up 3 large clay wall pots with some red and white flowering Pelargoniums and then put them on their pegs under the Kitchen window. One really boring job was to start cleaning the marker pen writing off the couple of hundred used plastic labels. I used Brasso and a cloth to take the the marker pen off, (making a note to clean them immediately after use and not throw them in a box until there's hundreds of them:doh::wallbanging:), but does anyone know of a better, easier, quicker way to clean the labels>
Anyway, suddenly I looked at my watch and realised that it was 6.30pm and wondered where the day had gone. Also while doing so and standing in a area of the garden near the bottom I realised I was standing on an old path that I'd laid many moons ago but which ahd disappeared under years of soil drift and lack of maintenance. So, out of curiosity, I got a trowel and scraper from the Green House and getting on my knees for the umpteenth time of the day I started digging down around a couple of inches of the soil to find the flagging .
So, it was around just after 8pm when my knees started to say:old: and I got up aching all over after uncovering about 5 feet of the path. There's about another 15 feet to go but that is definitely a job for tomorrow!! Anyway, it was around 8.30pm by time I'd closed the garden down and headed for a shower, a Mug of Tea and some Supper.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Cut in the paths through the front garden yesterday morning. It took almost an hour, although the grass wasn't particularly thick or long. Raked up most of the grass for the compost bins. Gave the Ribes by the boat seat a very light trim, just enough the get to the seat. Yanked lots and lots of blanket weed out of the pond.

Day before yesterday I checked the :hhog: house by the boat seat and it appeared empty. Yesterday I decided to clean it out. However, I found it was occupied - felt bad for disturbing :hhog:. I did remove the largest tick I've ever seen from the entrance tunnel in the house. It was lying in wait for :hhog: to wake up and come out, so it could reattach itself. It was dealt with swiftly. One of my other houses that I cleaned out recently I moved down to the boat seat area.

Painted final coat on one of the patio walls and put three coats of paint onto the raised flower container on the patio. Only two sides are visible so didn't take long.

Zeroed it for rest of afternoon.

No gardening while it is raining!
@luciusmaximus due to the lock down and continuing shut down of the country we had to cancel our trip to Anglesey at the end of June. We will try and arrange it again for next year, we were so looking forward to going there.:frown:

So far this morning it's been mostly running around the garden like a mad woman possessed ( much to the amusement of onlookers) trying to scare of a group off Magpies from raiding every nest in the garden!! All the parent birds are going frantic....poor things.
And yes, I do know that Magpies have to feed their young too. But not from my feathered friends nests..... and.... they didn't book a shopping slot either.

I made a mistake when ordering Pots from Asda, some have sprouted, so I've dug a bed out ready to plant these in..........Ok I know you shouldn't do this, but I'm not going to waste them.

After I sat in my little Summer House drinking Coffee, cutting my nails and watching an Ant.

I've resorted to mixing different bags of compost as one lot is this 'new' no peat stuff and the other is 100% peat. So I mix 50/50 and get a reasonable result. I mixed 200 litres and Mrs Shiney used the lot for potting on :hate-shocked:. At the moment I get whatever compost I can find.

We spent the usual hour doing the hokey cokey with the hardening off job. I then spent another hour moving pots, tubs etc. away from around the summerhouse as the decorator is coming on Monday to do the outside of it as it hasn't been done for 12 years.

I then spent all afternoon mowing the wild area, weaving around all the plants and doing the large areas at each end. The grass was a good six inches high so was hard work.

Of course, I had to keep having breaks for cuppas. :coffee:

@ARMANDII - I have tons of labels from plants I have killed :frown:
I buy 'magic sponge' from Poundland - it's a melamine sponge. Just a bit of water on it, and one swipe takes the writing off. But I use pencil. It's a bit slower with 'indelible' pen, but still works

I spent a hour or three on my knees with a scraper, trowel, brush and spade excavating the last 15 feet of the lost path. There was a lot of fibrous roots in the soil so I had to use a sharp knife to cut sections of soil away, but I eventually got there. The recovered soil went onto the lawn to give it more "body" to my sandy soil. While I had the brush in my hand I decided to clean the paved area by the Wildlife pond which, because the pond is at the bottom of my slightly sloping garden, soon get covered in dead leaves, etc that gravitate to it.
Later on I planted 3 Kniphofia Sunningdale on the East side of the "walk around" border along with a Day Lily "Pandoras Box" and gave them a good water as the wind that was blowing from the East felt like a drying wind as well as being a bit chilly. I also gave the lawn a good watering, refilled the two small Bird Baths and then the main one. All three get well used by the Birds who seem to queue up at times in orderly, and sometimes not so orderly, fashion.
Then I had a quick check of the Bearded Iris of which the early flowering varieties are on the point of breaking bud and flowering. I'm pretty sure that among the unnamed Iris there will be some "repeats" and if that is so I will reduce them to just the one and then replace the others with a different variety.
