Well I do hope you are right about the vaccine but if that is the case they must be light years ahead of the rest of the world, its not the coming up with the vaccine, its testing it and then manufacturing it in billions of doses that take the time.

Well, I wonder who will pay for the recession, think I will be well dead before it gets anywhere near paid off.
And how wonderful, construction sites can now work till 9pm.

The latest reports I saw were adamant there is no hope of a vaccine. I also read a cogent article explaining that the term " herd immunity" that was bandied about in the UK way back does not mean what Johnson thinks it does but refers to vaccination levels. The sheer ignorance and ignoring the real experts is all but unbelievable. And dangerous.

The only way for any to stay safe is to stay home.

I went shopping in town today at wrinklies hour 8 - 9 a.m. In more normal times it would take me 30-40 minutes to get there at that time. Today it took 15 minutes. Sainsbury's was well organised, nobody got within 2m and the shelves were fairly full except the eggs were a bit low. One of the staff cleaned a hand scanner for me and I zapped all my goods and packed them as I went. Then straight to the self-checkout, no queue, and out.

i then drove into their petrol station and it asked you to take the option of pay at pump and to use the gloves provided. There were no gloves and I saw a member of staff at the door letting onein, one out. I said there were no gloves and she said she had a box of them and let me take two. She said they can't leave them in the box holder by the pumps as people had been pinching them!

The petrol station was not busy and the roads were empty going home. I passed over the motorway on the way and there were very few vehicles on it.

In the short term for some perhaps. In the long term we will run out if food if everyone stayed at home, some people have to work now to keep the lights on, keep water coming out of taps and to harvest food and deliver it to us, they don't have a choice.

This is the reason that Boris should have been giving information as to the plans much, much earlier. It is going to take at least three to four weeks to get anywhere near normal service levels as they simply cannot be restored overnight.

Worked out my petrol usage since lockdown at < 1 Litre/week.

Now working out what to do with all the money I've saved.

Wonder if the ONS will continue to use pre-lockdown consumption to calculate inflation?

I've used more petrol mowing the lawn than driving!

Although we've not had any rain the early morning dew and the heavy frost have produced enough moisture for the grass to grow like mad.

I thought you spent it in the Garden Center? :spinning:

I am hoping to go to the Garden Center when all our storms have passed, maybe the weekend. They have full sized palms inside!

Agree totally but I did not say or think it was or is feasible. Just that it would work. As it would. The state of the UK grieves me mightily. It worked in Wuhan with minimal services to feed etc but the vast majority at home, and a serious lockdown has worked here in Ireland, as we have numbers way down now. And if the easing is abused it will be re-established in full. Easing lockdown in the way it is being done? when I open my laptop msn news comes up and the comments on items re the virus are … Have a look. Many still believe it is less serious than flu etc.
We lost a beloved family member to covid-19 and I would do anything to prevent the pain and grief so many are enduring.

Nothing you or I can do except stay home and stay safe as much as we can.
