Had to sow another packet of cosmos seeds. The first lot caught greenfly from the tithonia that i was growing beside them and they've all just died.
Have to keep taking the wallflower seeds that i've sown inside and put them on the garage floor because it's getting too hot outside for them.

      ahem, Recipe pretty please?

I've got all of the garden furniture set up. Hooked up the solar pumps for drawing water from the rain barrels and sending into the capillary water receptacles (wallpaper hanging trays) in my little greenhouses.

Now I've got to get painting the fence mounts for the electric insulators and hopefully they'll dry fast enough for me to install by the end of the day. I'm trying to keep the nasty north American version of red squirrel from getting to my crabapple tree. Last year they stripped the blossoms and I got no fruit to make jelly!

It was a busy day in the garden after I'd done the shopping and got back Home around 2pm as I'd got some more planting to do, skimming the pond of dead leaves and twigs, planting some Astilbes in the Bog Garden and, as an experiment some in the shallower water by the bank. I cleaned out the 3 Bird Baths and then filled them with clean water and within minutes of me walking away from them the Birds were there drinking and having a "water every where" bath.
Anyway, this is how the garden is looking at the moment.......

Today has been a game of musical pots; I started off by potting on the tomatos and cucumbers, then noticed my Aloe aristata was looking a bit over snug in it's house. So I potted on a fuscia to give the aloe that pot, and then the aloe's old pot turned out to be the perfect size for the lewisia. And since the lewisia pot was then empty, well, I had a pelagonium starting to test the boundries of it's current hom, so on that one went...and so on, and so on :rolleyespink:

              I've got a greenhouse :hapfeet:
Yes I'm a happy bunny. I called at the GC this morning and they had 2 pop up ones left so I grabbed one. A lean to which is perfect. I spent a small fortune on new plants. Many I've never grown before so fingers crossed. It got far to hot to plant them all out so had to wait until late afternoon for some shade to get them in. The border is looking lovely now. I also picked up some cacti compost, normal compost and edging shears. So yes got everything I needed. One happy little gardener here. :hapydancsmil:

@Jasmine star I am glad to hear about your new greenhouse. You will never regret purchasing it! When you've got it set up, pictures would be lovely :)

I got about 1/2 of my seedling pots cleaned up and ready for the winter. Only the other approximate 100 to go.

Mine are mainly way stations for seedlings from the end of March until it is warm enough to plant out and then they are populated by super hot peppers. Though this year I am trying my hand with growing cucmbers and tomatoes in one of them.

                        Always fun playing about :)

Hi Lori, I was wondering, what temperature do you keep your chilli peppers?
I got some seeds so I will be giving them a try. I read of people planting them outside in full sun, but I guess they prefer high temperatures if possible?

                              On the subject of Wallflowers.

When I worked the allotment with Dad. We of course grew mainly veg and some soft fruit also we set aside an area for flowers. That's where I had my Masquade roses. I can see it now. I arrived and couldn't see my roses. Asking dad. Oh I prunend them for you. He'd got his spade that was as sharp as an ax. A couple of swipes and .....job done. How that reminds me of our friend WOO when cutting back roses in Greenwich Park, with a chain saw.

Ooops sorry. Wallflowers. We had grown our usual favourites of the day, wallflowers. I remember as a wee kid, (I was one once) trotting off to school with a large bunch of wallflowers for the teacher.

Anyway one season I missed a plant when clearing out. Next season it was still there and had become a small shrub. I began to pay more than the usual attention to it. It must have been some seven or eight years later and the once tiny wallflower was now a very attractive flowering shrub. TLC with pruning had worked, but as time passed the older wood really became hard and tough, so it had to go. Nevertheless it proved a great experience. Give it a try some time.

                                Kids!!

Amanda rang me today as usual. How's you dad? Too hot already. I don't like this heat. I am staying indoors with the fans on.

Take care dad. You can of course cool off in the pond!

                                Cheeky lass.

(My post of the otherday, when I fell backwards into the pond)

Laugh and the world laughs with you.
