I've just sat in the sunshine on the Patio, a dangerous thing to do as you start thinking and "seeing" things/jobs to do. So, after staring at the East Fence for too long, I realised that there is still a length of fence that is the old Lap larch construction while the rest is made of sixteen 6' lengths of 2" X 4" of timber dropped horizontally between the posts. So, I rang the local Timber Merchant that I have used for decades to see if they were open and they were:hapydancsmil: So I ordered 48 lengths of timber that I can cut into ninety six 6' lengths, creocote, and then, taking out the old panels replace them with the timber lengths.
Chatting to the guy on the phone, who knows me well, he gave me advice for the cheapest deal of untreated wood, (as I'm going to soak it in Creocote), and then said things had changed dramatically for both Staff and customers as now any orders being picked up by the customer had to be done on a timed appointment, all the inside of the Warehouse was screened off with protective screens. and that it was better to order by phone rather than visiting the Yard. They've been closed for around 6 weeks but reopened around 3 weeks ago while no customers being allowed to wander around the Yard itself. He said that although the Company had looked after them while they were closed but that they were all glad to be back at work.
Usually they will cut timber to length for you, but he had to apologise as they can't offer that service at the moment but it's not a problem as I have all the power tools to easily cut the timber, but what does take time is the creocoting of the cut lengths, waiting for it to dry, and then recoating it again before putting it into place.......still, it'll give me something to do!! Luckily I have more than a few 5 litre containers of Creocote in the Garage which I bought when they were around £3.50p when originally changing the fence from Lap Larch to timber lengths...the price now is around £16.50p for 4 litres:hate-shocked:
They deliver orders for free but it will be next Wednesday before they can actually deliver as they are backed up with orders. I'll have to park my car on the other side of the road so that they can drop the timber onto the Driveway and remember to do that the night before.

We put our work tops in the garage until we could have them fitted but hubby couldn't put the car away at night.
Still got the old cupboards in, we had to get a new drainer and sink so we had to have new tops.got a different colour from the cupboards on the grounds that we'll get new cupboard doors that was 8 years ago and still waiting.
20200527_141001.jpg But got a new cooker two weeks before Christmas last year

Fitted this in the kitchen - on the basis that it's better to have one and not need it, than to need it and not have one. I've left a 4 star rating on Amazon - if it saves the bungalow and all our lives in the future - I'll upgrade to 5 stars  :

Spent the morning with older sister, going over the final planning stages for our Dad's funeral next week. So sad that there are so many no no's due to this virus , only about 12 people will be attending, we were only allowed a maximum of 18.

@Upsydaisy I am sure it will be a lovely service. The number of people don't make them a bigger tribute just the amount everyone attending cares.

I had a busy day. The masks were picked up and the cheque was made out for more than my invoice as a thank you. They also included a nice thank you note and told me the rest of the businesses surrounding them are green with envy. A nice thing to hear :)

Then I worked on figuring out pattern repeats etc to get my cutting diagram correct for cutting sections to make new cushion covers for a client. That took nearly 2 hours.

Then I went out to get mix for my spritzers, 4 cases of beer for the cellar fridge, and other groceries. When I walked into the local grocer (there was no line up) and wno was right behind me? My youngest son. He had dropped his wife at the pharmacy to do her shopping and was grabbing a few things. And he landed up 6 feet in front of me at the check out so I told the cashier to please put his goods on my tab. They didn't know he was my son and I said, "He seems like a nice boy". The weird looks and they couldn't see me smirking under my mask!

Then I got home and there was a message from a relative of a client looking for me to do some work for her.:blue thumb:

And during all of the at home work, I had the pleasure of listening to Midsomer Murders on the television. What a bloodthirsty lot in that little place! :heehee:

Chased a red squirrel out of the garage. Don't know when he got in there but I am sure he won't be rushing to sneak back in.

And now I am having a spritzer whilst flatttening my behind. A wonderful day !

Came down this morning only to find Barley had been ill, he had been sick and diarrhoea. Good thing that the carpets are easy to clean, nothing soaks in it stays on the surface. Hubby had to take him out a few times before he felt better, hubby said that he had been licking the grass 2 days ago. Our other dogs used to cry to go out if we were in bed ,but these 2 don't.

Yesterday I stopped putting the antibiotic ointment in my eye and it's a lot better today, I was set on going to a&e again today but it must have been that.

@CanadianLori that's great to hear about those masks that you made.

Well my day has consisted of getting some sealant for the kitchen, and then sitting down to listen to some CD's. Sinatra, Glenn Miller, Sammy, Dean, Harry James, Benny Goodman, to name but a few. It is the era of crooners and big band music that goes so well on my surround sound system.
Oh and the good lady is resting too.:recliner:

Was up at 04:30 again building kitchen units ....sink came today so was very excited for that then hubby went to collect tap the original store that said we could pick it up Wednesday hadn’t let us know that it wasn’t in, he went and queued 40 minutes to be told it’s out of stock for another week, not an happy bunny, so went to their other store that did, I’m glad I didn’t wait another week because the tap is too tall because we had a change of wall units from original plan but forgot to change tap, it’s one of the pull out types and so too tall, so the sink unit is on hold until we sort another tap

@Telmadee what size sink did you get? I swapped my older sink out for one of the 30" wide ones and love it!

I had a scattered day. Went to buy a multimeter. Got one, tried it on the electric fence. It read L0. And the one that I had before was tossed because someone told me the code was telling me the unit was fried. So I took the new unit back and told them either it didn't work or the operator was stupid. So I bought another that seemed simple, like a multimeter for Dummies, brought it home and it reported the same thing but Aha, this newest unit which was 4x the cost of the first I bought today, had, in small writing in the manual stated that L0 meant the setting was too low to read the device. And these were all ones that have Auto setting and I did not override. Which means that I threw out a perfectly good unit, bought and returned another and had foolishly spent a hundred bucks.

So I put myself on KP and cleaned the barbecue.

Oh, and had another client show up with a small cushion job. Child's wicker rocker, so cute!

Yes, forgot to mention that I had a delightful time cutting out the pieces for an outdoor rattan cushion set and the fabric is a bright lemon tree pattern. Kept looking at the lemons and got an urge for something citrus so pulled out the recipe for lemon/lime fudge. Still got to make it and of course, eat it!

@CanadianLori the new sink is only 400mm it’s a black onyx solo one I didn’t want a drainer as I rinse and put things straight into the dishwasher, hence the reason I wanted a pull out tap too, hubby’s has just shown me another one he’s found online which is a shorter one so he’s going to order that but it won’t come until Tuesday so I’m stuck with the two base units a sink and 3metre worktop in hall and living room it’s bugging the life out of me I don’t like chaos or untidiness. Oh gosh I bet you were frustrated as anything finding that out about the one you threw away.... you sound busy busy busy

I like to keep busy @Telmadee and I make a "to do" list for every day. With weather forecast predictions so I can plan inside and outside jobs that are suitable.

Yes, I was a bit teed off. And standing in line twice to replace something that was perfectly good really got my goat. That advisor will now be placed in the bologna slice tosser (BS) category.

And I think I just heard a red squirrel (nasty merican kind) running between the dining room ceiling and second floor. To do list item added: bait trap and set up....

A few years back I had to chase a mother raccoon and her three cubs out of the back door. Armour: light jammies. Weapon: Green coloured dust mop. Running around the dining room table to the kitchen and following them into the kitchen after shutting that door then edging around to the back door to open it and back to cnasing them around the kitchen table until they noticed the open door and fled. I am so glad no one videoed that one and posted it for all the world to see. Well, maybe it would have given them a laugh! :)

Feather, fowl or fang, insect, whatever. They don't scare me but I hate snakes!
