@Fat Controller It was on the news at 5.30 a.m. that all schools in the country (presumably England) would, now, not open until September because of logistic problems. I don't think that would affect the ones that are open for children of key workers - but that's a guess.

I think they were saying that the local authorities could make up their own minds as when or what schools to open .
Too much opposition to the idea from teachers union and some parents threatening to keep their kids away.

I noticed the good old BBC, were interviewing all parents that said it wasn't safe to open up schools when the government came up with the idea.

Now they have dropped the idea they were out there interviewing all parents that were saying the schools need to be opening up.:biggrin:

This school business is very confusing as a couple of years have already gone back starting from last week. It's been nice and quiet in the back garden today so I reckon no one told Surrey schools

Nicola Sturgeon is hoping to get schools open here in August. Roughly the time students would return after the summer break which is three weeks earlier here than England.

The Isle of Man has had no knew cases of the virus for twenty days. The island's 'doors' remain closed though.

Relatively positive news here today for yesterday ... 294 new cases (270 Lisbon & Tejo, 21 North, 2 Algarve , 1 Alentejo and none in Central, Madeira or Azores), only 5 deaths. Hope these Lisbonites here this week on holiday don't bring anything unwanted with them. :nonofinger:

Maybe they should do the same in England, bearing in mind what's been going on , and start schools earlier back from summer holiday than usual.

It does seem stupid opening schools for about a month and then closing again for holidays, which now appears to not be happening.

But then I would expect total uproar from teachers and unions.

The problem is the schools can't apply the 2mtr rule with reduced class sizes and need twice as many teachers that they haven't got nor the space to do it.I don't see the problem with it myself because come July the Pub Beer gardens will be overflowing with them and they'll also be jumping on planes off on their hollibobs... Bonkers I tell you.:rolleyespink:

The problem is nobody can apply the 2 mtr rule and make it work.
It dont work and it never will in our small overcrowded little space.
Its not been working around here from day one and it needs to be looked at, but the stupid government keep bagging on about "sage", who the hell is sage, just a bunch of over payed scientist that dont appear to know their Rs from thier elbows.

No more social distancing on the Isle of Man from Monday.

Nicola Sturgeon is considering removing the lockdown here in the Highlands, not the rest of Scotland as yet.

"The region of Lisbon and the Vale do Tejo (LVT) continues to concentrate more than 90% of the daily cases of covid-19 infection, registering 283 of the 310 new infections reported, according to the Directorate-General of Health."

"Portugal is the third most peaceful country in the world, according to the Global Peace Index (GPI), occupying the first place among the countries of the European Union.
