Hi All, I need to repot my olive tree and I see that John Innes No 3 is the best for this, but there appears to be a national shortage of compost of all types, or at least there is in our part of the world! Can anyone suggest an alternative please? I have some all purpose compost and some horticultural grit but is there anything else that would be good for my olive? Thanks

If your garden soil is reasonable you could mix some of that with the multipurpose and some sand, some slow release fertilizer if you have some.

Thanks Pete, we have pretty heavy clay soil so I'm guessing that won't be great.

Well, you could use some, clay will add some body to the compost, just dont turn it into a mud pie.

Must admit I can still get JI compost around here, but some of the MP stuff is getting short and they are putting the price up.
