My car insurance company have done something similar. Sent me the renewal notice and whilst their renewal price is slightly lower than last year's premium, it's about £100 more expensive than I can get the same cover from them via a price comparison website. I phoned them up and as my policy is set to auto-renew (pretty sure I ticked the DON'T AUTORENEW box), they have agreed to pricematch (with themselves)

 

I think we should all be pretty peed at the insurance companies. They are having far less claims because the reduction in traffic due to the '19. Nobody is traveling long distances, everybody is combining trips and there are a lot less people having to attend work away from their residence.

Should be a huge reduction, at least in my opinion!

 

I got an e mail from my car insurer, not looked into it yet but it says I can claim a partial refund if my mileage has dropped dramatically.

Already got a 2 month payment holiday on my Simply Health insurance.
Not sure what that actually means, do I still have to pay for those two months or has the payments just been deferred?

 

I just sent them an email saying I'm still paying but cant get acsess to any of the benefits, they sent me an email back stating they could offer me a two month payment holiday.
I replied asking for them to do so and just received an email back saying they were very busy and they may take a while to answer

 

Although they might be opening up shortly, we have had two months of them being shutdown.

 

Thing is - the insurance companies know that some people are not comfortable using the 'phone - and take advantage of this through auto renewing. My Mum doesn't like 'phoning up someone she doesn't know - but then she has me to do it for her.

Wan't there something about mobile 'phone companies being forced to accept e-mails when someone wants to end their contract?

 

I think it's more to do with companies hoping you will be too busy to cancel direct debits, they then make contact , with themselves, very difficult and they hope the renew will just get carried on.

 

Since the chiropodist only needs to access your feet, perhaps you could wear a mask and one of those Elizabethan collars - borrow one from Sarafi?
