I spoke to my doctor on the phone yesterday Pete and have a 'face to face' appointment on Monday. Not all surgeries are the same.

        Good for you.
But I dont think its fair them coming out with the old story that patients are scared to go, the GPs have pretty much shutdown for the last two months, likewise hospitals.

They built those massive Nightingale hospitals at great expense and never used them.
To my thinking all virus patients should have been isolated in those specific places leaving the normal hospitals to get on with pretty much what they normally do.

There was also space in those for all those care home people that they sent back to the homes infecting the whole home.
Its been a complete disaster the way they have carried on.

          Thanks Pete. :)

I agree, I don't think patients are scared. I think people have decided to cope with their ailments hoping they will either get better, or stalling until they can visit a surgery. Which is what I tried to do but things have progressed with my problem.

There was such a panic to cope with the situation early on, the powers that be didn't really know what to do. At least now with hindsight, another virus like this will hopefully be handled better.

Our surgery does see patients (and has done for weeks) but only by strict appointment after either a phone or video appointment. The patient has to wait in their car, or in the car park, and wait to be called. As it happens, it's a much better way than sitting in a waiting room with a load of sick people! Fortunately I've only been up there to collect repeat prescriptions and they have a very good system for it. You don't get anywhere near another person.

Well, everything going on as usual today. Washed out a bucket with water and a hand brush - as you do. Flicked the hand brush to get rid of the water and the head flew off into the bushes. I was stood there with a brush handle in my hand - luckily no one watching.

Can't find the brush head - I do know it's in that bush - but the magic garden pixies must have made it invisible - the naughty rascals......

I am sick of seeing the riots on the TV and the "news" on line, especially about police brutality. Is it just me that believes if the public behaved then the police would not have to be involved?

This morning it was stated American police should wear body cams ... I have been watching PD Cam, etc, for a couple of years and thought it was standard.

Would it be a good idea that if any march/demo resulted in any damage or vandalism at all then the media puts an total embargo on showing it? Of course, this would never happen - but we can dream! :)

Part of the problem is that the media have stoked this up - from that eejit Piers Morgan (who now incidentally is backtracking on his support for the protesters) right through to even the BBC. I made a formal complaint to the BBC last night because they chose to release a podcast at 9pm last night on BBC Sounds 'speaking to the famiiles of four people that died after contact with the police in the UK' and advertised the fact on Twitter. 9pm, the night before a weekend of anticipated conflicts.

As I see it, a number of things are at play here - firstly, it is an election year in the US so anything of this nature is always going to be amplified beyond belief over there; here, were are in the Brexit transition phase and there are still those who believe they can force an extension - that is what the entire Dom Cummings thing was all about, and even this very morning I read a tweet from Prof A C Grayling saying that there was still a 'glimmer of hope' that they could force an extension.

This is not about the death of a man in the US - this is anarchy, pure and simple - only, it is being fed and encouraged by our mainstream media (understandable as most of them are fairly far left on the political spectrum), whilst our police are also taking the softly, softly approach as many of them are also left leaning (plus the fact that their hands are tied and they have chiefs/commissioners who are more interested in how they look than how they are actually doing their jobs). The government could send in the army to help, but that would lead to cries of 'fascist state' from the left, which is essentially what they were calling Boris and the Tories all the way up to the election - - so the government is essentially scared to act.

Sadiq Khan is hawking for votes, and London generally is left leaning anyway, so he sees an opportunity by allowing the protests to take place. Note the language being used also - those who were lobbing bricks and bicycles at police and pulling down statues last week were 'protestors', those who have said enough is enough (many ex-services veterans) and have siad they are going to go and stand and protect our monuments are 'far right extremists'.... and I will lay money that the police won't be going softly softly on the group that they see as being far right.

Add in a background where statues are being either removed or at best covered over, without consultation or discussion, and the fact that it has reached the stage of censorship now - TV programs and films being removed from streaming services, and even libraries pulling books. Yes, you did read that right - books being essentially banned.

So, tell me now that this is not a neo-Nazi movement, wishing to ethnically cleanse anyone who is white from our land, or at least any that don't agree with their ideology?
