Hi, I would like to know if anyone knows why my Dahlia don't seem to have formed properly? There is no yellow or pollen, I try to plant for pollinators so this is pretty disappointing, I bought them last year as bedding plants I think (small plants as if no tubers) I then stored them over winter and this is what I've ended up with, I'm not sure what I've done wrong? Thank you.

Well looks like some pollen is there, but I would think its more down to variety rather than something you have done wrong.

Stamen and pistils will not form properly if the plant has suffered stress during the growing stage, this can be lack of light, over feeding, excessive heat, drought, etc, poor quality tubers can be to blame as well.

It actually looks to me like a double flower that maybe hasn't formed properly.

Wow that's a list! I'm wondering if I have over fed them, I started them off in pots with 50/50 manure/compost, then added more of the same when planting them in the ground, they've also had Tomato fertilizer once a week!
