Yesterday I worked on the pigeon defences in the veg plot. I use old software CD's for this purpose. I hang them above the veggies (mainly for the beans that the pigeons seem to love) and lower down, when the beans are first growing.

They spin in the wind and flash in the sunlight and seem to work very well. That's about the most high tech I get indoors and out! :heehee:

The only problem with the system is that when they blow around in strong wind they tend to flip over and over where they're tied until they have no spare string for dangling and end up held firmly in place.

This is not too difficult to fix as all it needs is to spend a bit of time unspinning them. For the amount I have it should take about 15 minutes (about 15 seconds each) if all of them need doing.

I found it was taking a lot longer, although it's a simple mechanical job that needs no thought. That's where the system fell down and was the idea for this thread.

As I was working at it, without much thought or concentration, it was a 'Habit' that was my downfall. I suddenly realised that I was taking much longer over handling each one because of the ingrained habit of trying not to get fingerprints on CD's!!! :hate-shocked:

    What a wally!!!!
