Would love a drone but it might land in the ocean? Island is small...

I do fly mine over water on the occasion, which can make for beautiful footage, but it is also quite unnerving, when you think that any malfunctioning might land it in water.
With luck, the producer would replace it, if it was due to mechanical or electronic failure through no fault of your own. But sometimes they do not, or even put on disclaimers that you are not supposed to fly over water..

DJI drones can be bought with a special insurance which will cover damage or loss of the drone, but it does add up considerably to the cost.
Alternatively, these are quite expensive, but they can land on water, film underwater too, and straighten up for take off if they flip due to waves or else:

Aldo; where I live I walk never more than a few feet from the ocean and I am not good with tech stuff. There are quicksands too...

 

Lovely shots @wiseowl. Of all the places for the battery to run out it chose over water, typical! It would have been a long walk and swim to retrieve it Woo.

 

Great pics Woo. That's cool!! So when it runs low it automatically returns to base then.
