I think blackfly are worth a moan. Today and yesterday I've spent an hour both days wiping blackfly and their eggs off my beans - and that's only on one of the ShineyFrames. This afternoon I've been touring my garden hunting for ladybirds and put 14 of them on the beans and told them to get to work.

The variety they have attacked the most, so far, are the new ones we're trialling for Which? Gardening.

Alongside those I'm growing one of their current Best Buys plus my most popular variety.

I normally don't spray them but shall do so (soapy water) if I have to.

My moan is about racism. I grew up as a teenager/early adult in Alabama in the real racist days ... KKK, marches, burning crosses, separate water fountains and queues for different colours, etc. It wasn't pleasant, but I/we had friends of all races.

When we sold up and moved to the UK in 1977 I had a garage sale and sold my precious Golliwog doll (anybody remember those?) to a black//AfroAnerican lady who bought it for her daughter. She was delighted and I told her I was pleased it was going to a good home.

I am speechless at what is going on with crowds in public spaces/beaches, riots, statue destruction, Aunt Jemima/Uncle Ben's dilemma, Lady Antebellum changing their name (arrgghh) ... and the list goes on.

T'other Half and I have decided all these people should get together and go to a new planet with no history, give each other Covid19 with no medical facilities available and leave the atmosphere.

Names welcome for the planet please ... MORANICA?

            Rant over.

I was annoyed with my computer this morning. I use Google Chrome Browser, and sometimes Avast Secure Browser but Microsoft put a pop up for Microsoft Edge on the screen and wouldn't let me dismiss it  nor use any other browser. I had to shut down and reboot! I also managed it without any four letter words :)

We have a lay-by/pullin outside of our house, it's some times used as a pee stop for drivers (which doesn't bother me) well this morning a food delivery van stops and sure enough driver out for a pee  normally they go around the other side and pee on the grass verge, this morning the person was peeing into the road and in full view of our house, now on to the next delivery

You know, I try and do my bit for the environment by buying organic - no man made pesticides/fertilizers etc.

I've just read the label on my organic broccoli - it has been grown in Israel and transported up to North Wales - sort of misses the point doesn't it?

Mrs Scrungee was in an Oxfordshire organic greengrocers shop displaying a big sign claiming all produce was grown locally when somebody came in and asked if they had any bananas.

OMG, our breadmaker is malfunctioning and every store in the UK is OOS :yikes:

The size setting defaults to 'extra large' and can't be changed. I suggested simply making extra large loaves, but Mrs Scrungee insisted that something else would go. I replied "Our waistlines?".

The determined direct approach always works... I have had similar successes. They cannot pass the buck when they have someone like us on at them. EMail has been a great facilitator!

                              (((HUGS)))

Happens here too. One of the most lovely places over here is the top of the Conor Pass in Kerry.

Someone dumped split bags of rubbish over the edge down the mountainside.

The trouble and danger of clearing that.

We pay per bag for rubbish disposal over here.

Too expensive and wasteful of energy to put an oven on just for a loaf of bread. Despite dailing to reset, after going ahead and completing the cycle on the wrong stuck setting, the bread maker was able to be reset. If it still wasn't working I was going to refer Mrs Scrungee to the firmware updates section of Panasonic's website
