There's an easy way to stop a repetition of the Bournemouth incident. Withdraw the furlough scheme - so people think more carefully about spending money on a jolly.

Furlough is ending in October in any case - so if the numpties keep going out and spreading the virus - they will all be on the dole. It's their own fault if they are unemployed come November.

@Mike Allen, yes my older sister and brother have just received the same letter too. They will just do what they feel comfortable with, picking quieter times to begin the slow but cautious rebuilding of their lives outside of their homes. Keeping a check of infections in your locality with be a good place to start. Using gloves and masks will also be beneficial....but what I found harder was to ensure I didn't touch my face when out and about!!! It is surprising how many times we automatically go to touch our face...hair blowing across it, I normally have to wear sunglasses as my eyes water terribly in bright skies and sunshine but when I forget I often absent mindedly wipe away stray tears, and of course that's not to forget the odd itch too!!
You just do what makes you happy....please yourself and not others.:dbgrtmb:

Its all political, right from day one politics have ruled the lockdown and now the easing.
Dont think common sense, or for that matter science, has been followed at all.

You must have struck lucky with the trains @Selleri. :) Having said that the Edinburgh run is easy compared to commuting day in, day out to London. It takes about 12 hours (with stops) to drive from London to the Highlands.

All shops in Scotland can open from tomorrow (Monday) with restrictions. We're still not allowed to wander far from home though. Covid numbers are falling here with no deaths for the last three days, although there are people still hospitalised.

I wear a pair of gardening gloves (very thin false leather with material back) and it's surprising how it stops you from touching your face without thinking. I, also, have a little trouble with my eyes (not a lot) and the glove comes off easily and I can use a tissue, in a still clean hand :blue thumb:

Totally agree @shiny...I always wear gloves when using shopping trolleys anyway..hate to think of the bugs on the handles :yikes:, so now all I do is wear gloves all the time now when out. For some reason wearing them makes you more aware of the times you go to touch your face!!....but thankfully this awareness makes me stop from doing so too. So definitely in my opinion..gloves on!!!:dbgrtmb:

They need roadblocks on major routes to the coast . That was done here and they turned back literally hundreds of cars, impounded some, some drivers went to court.

One guy got stopped TWICE by gardai. His " excuse" for driving from Derry to Kerry was that he was going to collect a puppy. He lost his car and was charged.

A side effect was the huge number of drugs they found in cars they stopped. The Gardai were given special powers.

Travel restrictions here in Ireland end today.

                      So anyone can go anywhere.

Even to the islands; we have been quarantined until now. One small island is pleading with people not to come, " We are few, we are frail." All the islands have a high population of older folk.

I have a large sign on my gate now!

We had one death and three new cases here yesterday. But dire warnings are being given. When they opened some shops a few weeks ago one woman said shopping at Penneys was " Heaven on earth. "

lol.. the day they quarantined the islands a yacht arrived at one. They had been at sea and not heard the new rules.

They got swiftly repelled by Gardai and Customs officials! Never set foot on land.

Well apparently again we have inconsistent attitudes from those running the show.
Great condemnation regarding people collecting on beaches and coastal areas, but BLM riots are allowed, with police running away and so called taking the knee.
Football fans rioting and firing rockets into buildings.
Illegal street parties going on until the early hours.
And some politicians and police are saying that is quite understandable. :rolleyespink:

                          Quote from yesterday's news ...

"Portugal having 41,646 confirmed infections, according to the epidemiological bulletin released on Sunday. Alentejo and the Algarve have 2.5% of those infected, while the islands are home to 0.5% of confirmed patients."

Alentejo has 4 deaths, Algarve 15. Madeira, which is also fighting the UK to be included in the "air corridor", has no deaths, a total of 92 confirmed cases only 2 of which are active. It is beyond my comprehension we are excluded ... Finland has also excluded us!

From next Monday - us lot in Wales will be able to travel further than 5 miles and form a 'bubble' with one other household.

The time I can get out to the allotment is drawing near - our August timeline is still on.

I'll take some pic's of the devastation when I do get down there and post them in my 'Got this 2 weeks ago' allotment thread.

Other signs things are easing up - we are now allowed to go to the local post office to pick up parcels.
