@Victoria I'll think you'll find it's because of the problems in the Lisbon area after the parties with over 1,000 people. :dunno:

Just did a search and found this ...

Yahoo fait désormais partie de Verizon Media

Malaysia News??? I usually trust Reuters but ...

We would have surely known something about this from our Portuguese friends who have links to Lisbon who wee were with on Friday. The outbreaks in the Lisbon area are from small gatherings, especially in an area called Little Jamaica where they gather and refuse to wear masks and keep distance.

The article is dated 22 June and it says ...

"A birthday party in the southern Algarve region three weeks ago attended by around a hundred people has led to 76 new cases, authorities said."

... the party was in Lagos on 7 June which is not "three weeks ago" prior to 22 June.
Personally I think it is a load of bull :steamy:

    @Victoria

I seem to remember hearing on the radio that there was a party of over 1,000 people in Cascais.

Apparently they have put restrictions back on five of the municipalities with the closing of restaurants after 8 p.m. and bringing the number able to meet down to a maximum of ten.

I think the report came through the Anadolu Agency - a rather right wing biased Turkish news agency. So they may have played it up a bit but, from what I remember, their bias is to play up, or down, the news items that suit the government - who own them. They don't usually make up totally fictitious news items so there is likely to be some truth there.

Your national or local papers may have more accurate figures.

Well done Leicester - ignore the rules, you're all in full lockdown again...

I wonder why Leicester is so different though? Surely they didn't do anything different to the rest of the country?

I must admit, I am surprised it isn't London.

Don't know if you saw my correction about the zip line. It is a 220ft drop but just under 1/4 mile long. These are the wires that I depended on. IMG_20200629_113301.jpg

This is passing by the American falls. Never was any going over a barrel there with all those boulders. Lots of people down in the gorge over there and going for a good misting.
          IMG_20200629_112008.jpg

These are the Canadian or sometimes called the Horseshoe falls. Huge. Several times bigger than the Donalds :)

And due to covid, it was a really great visit. No crowds, no litter, just besutiful views. IMG_20200629_112825.jpg

          So civilized.

Lots of sanitizing happening. People keeping their distance. My friend forgot her mask for when we couldn't distance but luckily I keep extra, freshly laundered ones in the van.

Two old biddies had a good time and stayed safe!

I saw it from the Canadian side , the horseshoe falls back when I was young, pretty impressive.
Dont think the zip wire was there then, must have been great, good for you.:)

Just caught up with the news and wish I hadn't. We have no new deaths here in Ireland but new clusters connected with folk travelling. eg Iraq. We were on top of covid until folk started travelling. By all means take risks with your own life but to endanger others? Lost touch with a dear friend in Texas.

That only seems to be a one off though @Victoria it doesn't make sense that Portugal as a whole is being punished for that. Compare it to what has happened in the UK such as 1000s attending demonstrations and packing beaches.
