Been shopping, cut out a pattern for a top. Also cleaned the house including the three loos. Hate cleaning loos. They should all be watertight with a big drain hole. Spray with disinfectant and then hose down would suit me just fine!

I always liked steamed pudding as we used to call it as kids.
Big dollop of jam on top and evaporated milk, .....can you still get that?

Upsydaisy. My thoughts are with you and the family. When my dad passed away in the 70's. I automatically took over his personal things such as tools etc. Mum disposed of his clothes etc, although there wasn't much involved. Mum lived onto 90.5yrs of age, and by this time was living in a council flat, across the green from us. Personal belongings basically clothes filled less than half a dozen black sacks. My sister had passed away alos in the 70's. Valerie and our two daughters commented. A whole life in half a dozen black bags.

Valerie passed away just ten years ago. Most of her outer clothes have gone to granddaughter Chloee, underware are still in the dressing table. Her books fill many shelves and the music boxes etc remain in the display case.

My accumilated belongings will, when the time comes, fill a removal van. In recollection. It really brings back memories of how lives and living standards have changed within the past hundred years. Pocessions are one thing, but memories are special. These are YOURS. They will never leave you.

Thanks @Mike Allen and @Islander77. Very hard task indeed. Although Mum passed away 14 yrs ago aged just 75 there are a lot of her bits and pieces too, so its a double whammy all in one go.

Like today I was sorting through a drawer and came across a list she had made of roses whose names were the same as family members/ people she knew. She had noted down the name, colour ,type and height of all the roses. It was so strange but nice to see her handwriting, she had absolutely beautiful writing with she was often complemented on. It a way I think the art of a beautiful written word is lost now with the times having moved to everything being done online.

I also walked down to the bottom of the garden to where Dad and I had started to create a wildlife garden earlier this year. Although the awful Ground Elder was making itself at home I was pleasantly surprised to see the seeds I had sown were managing to fight for space to bloom. Dad would have be well chuffed!!

Ah the steamed sponge is to use as a cake. Far easier on gas than putting the oven on and the same result. Life without cake is unthinkable!

Cake is perfect too!..in fact even better because you can eat it guilt free any time of day!!! If it was a pudding then you're rationed to after dinner only....and that's not good!!;)

Ah I always have it in the house!

There was one time at a Craft Fair when I was trading next to a man who sold seaweed products and was a zealous food …. cannot find the word. YOU know! There was a lovely Belgian couple running a waffle stall and they gave me a huge waffle heaped high with cream and strawberries. I was just opening my mouth for the first delicious bite when this voice thundered in my ear" FAT AND SUGAR!"

The whole room turned and stared. Guilty as charged!
